I agree but if Lee struggles, don't be surprised if Shep got the keys to they whole show assuming he is all that and a ba of chips... Again, this plays on JJ getting hurt.

Its as if some fans are hoping JJ gets hurt.

but I think even if they are equal, that JJ shouldnt share snaps with Lee, JJ is still learning as well and should get all snaps
I definitely agree with that line of thinking. I think that whoever wins the starting job (presumably Jefferson, but even if it's Lee) should be getting the vast majority (if not all) of the snaps in the games. Whoever it is will still be relatively inexperienced and should get as much playing time as possible.

More experience for the backup would be helpful in case of injury (as in last year), but I think developing an experienced starter is always more important and more urgent than developing an experienced backup.

Only the "Negas" want anything bad to happen to any athlete, much less an LSU Tiger. But, this board is full of them. I wish JJ and Lee nothing but success because that'll mean that LSU will be tough to beat next year. If JJ continues to grow and learn and JL settles down and rids himself of "the demons" from last year, we should be able to handle everyone...except Florida is going to be very tough for another year. But, if JJ progresses this summer as much as he might, then I'll take the Tigers in a shoot-out! The defense will be so much better I think!

I'm no coach but in last years spring scrimmage Lee looked great because he knew he wasn't going to get hit. When he got knocked around in real games he wasn't very good. I think they should forget those green jerseies and let them hit the QB's in this years spring game to see how good they really are.

Doc you are wrong,I'm not 10, I'm 2 but my I Q is 160. Thats why I can see things a lot better than you. I think you must be about 160 years old, and your I Q must be around 2.Take it easy old codger, Lee will win out next year.

lee lit a inexperienced secondary up in the spring drills and game.

and youre right, he may be a great practice QB, but gametime is a different story.

he looks like a frightened child out there sometimes.

Not a wise move. Each of the last 4 yrs, we've relied on back-up QBs to win big games for us, due to injury.

The #1 & #2 QBs need significant reps in game situations. After all, this is the SEC.

Hatch = 100% at Harvard?

Jefferson will get all the snaps except I think 10 or so a game will go to Shepard.

I think they will evaluate the QB situation this spring. If JJ plays like he did at the end of the season he will be the QB period.
I will watch the game again today to get a better picture of his strengths and weaknesses.

Yes, but in no season since 2002 have we relied on a backup for as many games as we have the starter. It doesn't help to have the backup experienced enough to win an extra game or two if it means having a starter who is inexperienced enough to lose 3 or 4. If we get our starter enough snaps to where the coaches feel he has enough experience to manage the game and handle the surprises of SEC-caliber defenses consistently without more repetition, then we should get some snaps for our backup. But I just feel it's unlikely we will develop that much experience for a QB with 1 or 2 games under his belt splitting time with a backup. Given the choice between having a starter and a backup both with 6 games worth of experience, or a starter with 11 games worth of experience and a backup with 1 game worth of experience, I'd choose the 11 game starter.

True. But until the #1 has gotten enough significant reps, it seems counterproductive to split his time with a backup.
