Other schools claim titles, but 1908 was even confirmed via one of the polls! It is a recognized LSU championship! Any other school would claim it, why don't we??
LSU is the 1908 Champions! To the LSU Administration- CLAIM IT!!!

[Why?]
I understand that you question the value, ESPECIALLY after seeing the response to ridiculous claims by Bama, and even more so, Auburn, but this is a different story since the NCAA already declares it to be so. It's ancient history, I get it, but for most of us, so is 1958, but that one matters (at least it does to me).
Now let's imagine a possible future where LK goes on a Saban-esque run, and wins 5 of the next 8 championships (I know, unlikely, but not impossible). If Michigan, USC & OSU don't win any in that period (I mean, these days, they have to beat IU to even win their conference, right?), then we can say, "We're in the top 3 in history for NCAA championships!"
Only Bama & ND would be ahead of us, and BOTH of them have some sketchy claims to titles. Ours would all be legit.
Having grown up in the mediocre '70s, attended LSU in the up and down '80s, and endured the awful '90s, that would be a pretty cool thing to be able to say.
None of it matters in eternity, but if our team is playing for championships and we want them to win one, why not also accept one that's already declared to be ours?
