I'm not sure they will either. I don't think it'll be a close game, but I think GSU is going to control the ball with that offense. I'm not sure we'll get enough possessions to cover.

Hopefully we can force some turnovers and run up the score. I wouldn't mind that one bit.

I think it's going to boil down to how many points they will score.

There is always a chance that offense gives us big problems. If they score 20, we won't cover.

However, if we have it managed, and they score 10, I think we will pretty easily.

Some sites have it at 27.5 and some have it up 31.5. Just depends what people on that site are betting

Is a radio station and incapable of having opinions. Perhaps you could be more accurate/specific on which people on that station said what?

Haha... Are you delusional? We had/have NFL talent up and down the roster, brought in Burrow who was a polished qb that miles didn't ruin and juco linemen who you could plug in right away. I suppose you believed them when they said we had no chance against Auburn two years in a row? Go back to he end of the line...you obviously are lost.

I want to see LSU go back to dominating teams we're suppose to dominate. Master your craft, build chemistry, and hit the ground running.

Having a "Lets just do enough to get the win" mindset will eventually get you beat.

I suppose considering they were 10-3 last season and Clemson beat them by 31, 28.5 will be a tough spread to cover. They actually picked off Trevor Lawrence and Kelley Bryant in the Clemson game.

true, but that was after a big game against A&M and a few games into the season.

Options teams are harder when you have to switch gears mid season to prepair for the, and after a physical game the week before.

Plus Bryant Kelly was actually not that good.

Nice rebuttal, you list my quotes and reply with nothing substantial. It seems you have no clue of what you are talking about since you can't say how LSU was in a decline? Anyway, I am sure you will come up with something besides 104.5 talking points from last pre-season.

All I care about is a solid win/performance. If we have to give up a 7-10 pts to allow Brennan and other new guys gain experience then that's worth IMO.

Van Pelt flashed a graphic on his show this morning that said Ed Orgeron was 0-7 or 0-8 (can't remember) vs the spread in games when favored by 17+.

It was the morning show on 104.5 with Cullota and Tee Bob, was sort shocked they threw the up gauntlet like that against LSU staff.

I don't see the issue. It's time for the offense to finally look like what we hear it'll look like every off-season. Our defense should keep them from scoring for the most part, so we shouldn't need to score over 40 to cover the spread. Is that asking too much against a Georgia State type defense at home?

I agree. I was listening to O talk—maybe on his radio show—and he addressed 2 separate things, which I think are actually related. He mentioned getting Brennan meaningful snaps to prepare him. I think he didn’t just mean for ‘20, but to be ready in case he’s needed this year.

The 2nd thing was a question he was asked about Burrow’s running. He said it will be a part of the offense, and some game plans will have him running a lot and others not at all. I think this week is a “not at all” game, but next week I think it’ll be significant component. We’ll certainly still spread the ball against Texas, but I do think we’re gonna pop em in the mouth and announce our physical presence early on.. Our big, tough s.o.b. QB keeping it and running over a few DBs to pick up some key 1st downs like he did against A&M and UCF is a good way to get our guys fired up and deflate the other team.

He can’t do it every week because we’ll need him down the stretch, but next week is one where I think he definitely will. I say all that to say, I think they’ll try to get Brennan in tomorrow, maybe even early. And I think they’ll let him throw it. If he’s killing it, we may crush the spread. If he throws a couple picks (which would be ok), it may wind up closer than it “should.” I wouldn’t touch this spread as a gambler. And without knowing how it goes, I don’t think not covering should be some indictment on the team.

I never understood the holding back because opponents might be watching bullshite.

If Texas can figure out and gameplan for our “new” offense in 6 days then that says a lot about the offense.

Just dropped a wad on GS to cover. LSU is usually a sure thing to not cover.

"Holding back" is just as silly as "use the entire playbook". Coaches plan each game to take advantage of LSU's strength vs opponent's weakness through specific plays.

They aren't going to "hold back" any plays that they feel will help LSU win, just like they aren't going to run any plays unless they believe they will effect the opponent.

Haven't any of you people actually played any football?

I’m hoping that we get up big and rest Burrow and the rest of the starters. Who cares if we cover?

This is a triple option team that is going to wear the clock down.

Clemson only beat them 28-7 last year.

I expect the same score and I’d be happy with that if our offense looks different.

I think only chance we truly put up more points is through special teams or our defense scoring.

It’s hard to blowout an option team.
