I agree with all of this, but what separates him from the rest of New Orleans youth in deserving another opportunity due to their upbringing??? His ability to play football???

Yes

This is a university, not a semi-pro football team. Football isn't and should not be the most important factor to those making the decisions.

No one said it was. It's just ONE factor.

If football is what is best for Tyrann, then he needs to go to McNeese and start preparing for the draft next year and forget about LSU. Staying out of football for a year and returning to LSU next likely isn't his best football option.

What's best for Tyrann is for him to be in a stable environment. LSU can afford him that better than any place else right now.

But had Florida decided to take him back, they would have been labeled as a thug program by all of the rant.

Florida was a thug program out of control with or without Jenkins coming back

Got to think LSU is messing with this kid's head. Deep down LSU hopes he stays.

Yeah messing with a kids head when he has a drug problem makes complete sense.

Sitting might be the very best thing he could do for himself. Competing against D-1 talent isn't what the NFL wants to see...

If he sits out a year, lowers his profile, makes the grades, comes back in 2013 and graduates, that might mean a whole lot more to him long term.

Would also look better to the NFL

you are completely wrong...completely.

I don't know why you keep saying that about D1 talent. It just happened for a DB from Florida this past year, and he got drafted in the second round.

It's kinda weird you want him to stay at LSU so bad....even though he won't play.

How so? What if he wants to take the 3rd offense punishment, sit a year, and earn his degree?

Short term, he could transfer and go to the draft in 2013, sure.

That's the easy way.

I would think a inpatient rehab or even his family home may be better for him than staying at school alone while watching all his friends enjoy a great football season. Isn't this the same environment he has been in that he can not control himself in? Yeah he has bad influences when he goes home but he didn't have a weekend off before the Aubrun Game last year....

Write to LSU and tell them to change their policy tough guy. When you see TM7 kicking arse in Tiger Stadium next year, you can shut the frick up.

Rumor # 234: according to an article in today's N.O. Times Picayune, a family member was quoted as saying " as far as him returning to LSU, it's not happening". "He will announce his college choice by Wed". FWIW.

These are all things being addressed by his family right now. If LSU allows him back it will be under very strict supervision.

Wasnt allowed to due to drug issues...kind of odd isn't it???

Maybe if he had a worse upbringing, he would have been given more opportunities to correct his mistakes?

As much as his teammates love the guy and want him to succeed, is it not plausible that this would divide the team? As a coach that dealt with this plenty over the last few years I doubt LM or Alleva want to get back into that situation. Working with a kid is fine if he's willing to play along, but choosing winners and losers is never a good thing when it affects so many others.

Hmmmmm, it was originally reported that he had clearing house issues. I thought the drug shite was just internet rumors?
