The answer is either Miles or Fisher.

Out of Miles, Cholly Mac, and Saban. The answer is obviously Miles. And you are a fricking retard if you think otherwise.

Saban

Miles won a championship with Saban players and was unable to win one on his own.

false, dinardo won 10 games in 96, 9 in 97

Saban walked into one of the most talented rosters ever at lsu
although saban had talent to work with, it does not come close to the talent miles walked into. 2006 is arguably the most talented team lsu has ever had.

that is building a program, miles is doing this 8, 9 years in a program

A

He made us relevant in college football and made us into a powerhouse.

he took a team who won 7 games in two years into a national champion in 4 seasons. Miles continued the success of Saban.

None of those 2006 players showed that talent under Saban. JRuss wasn't good under saban.

Miles walked into a program that had lost less than 3 games once in the last 5 years. This notion that Saban walked into an abyss and Miles walked into a top 5 program is just false

do you guys have no memory of LSU in the late 90s? We sucked. Saban turned around the program.

It's common knowledge that maintaining a powerhouse is far harder than Building one. It's not even debatable. Miles is leaving a better program than he inherited. Miles is leaving a program that has finished ranked in the top 15 8 of his 10 seasons. Miles didn't inherit a program close to that stature. 1 great season in 2003 doesn't mean you're a top 5 program.

Saban didn't turn around shite. We had 2 top 15 finishes in 96&97.
Saban walked into a program littered with future nfl talent and proceeded to lose 4 games, then 3 games, then 5 games. Saban had 1 good season at lsu.

you are going to ignore 98 and 99 3 wins and 4 wins each season.

both Miles and Saban were good coaches I just think Saban was slightly better.

Come on. 1 top 5 finish in 5 years isn't a powerhouse. I appreciate Saban for making our administration upgrade our facilities and recruiting budget but we weren't a powerhouse program until after 2007.

Miles had longer success Saban set up for what Miles had. At-least that is what it seems like.

Agreed but sustained success that Miles has had us far harder than what Saban did.

10 years from now people will say, "That's right Saban was your coach at one time. Bet you wish he had never left." as compared to "Les Miles? Wasn't he that quirky lil dude that munched on grass? Yeah, I remember him"

So, without a doubt Saban will be thought of as the greatest LSU coach by people who know football.

Unless you think Edward Sweetland was the greatest Ky Wildcat coach because of his .821 winning percentage, over 'the' Bear Bryant

Really? How often do you hear the name Arnsparger when LSU coaches are talked about?

He is right next to Miles in win % at .750, and better than Saban. SEC Coach of the Year (1984, 1986), AP SEC Coach of the Year (1986). two Sugar Bowl berths in three seasons. 1986 squad was SEC champion. And wasn't fired

Miles will fade with time, Saban will not
