Les Miles:
103-29 in 10 seasons (10-3)
52-14 in last 5 (10-3)
28-11 in last 3 (9-4)

So we had a shitty season (relatively speaking)...

Constant top recruiting classes

Refresh my memory. How many years has LSU had the top recruiting classes?

0? 1?

Who has had many of them? Bama

Just looked at Rivals. Bama has been #1 every year since 2008 except 2010 when they were only #5. The last time LSU had a higher ranking was 2007.

Which according to the "logic" around here means that Alabama should never lose a game unless it is to someone with better talent?

They're the New York Yankees of college football. They should win it every year - no excuses!

I said top not the top recruiting class. So you are fine with a top 10 recruiting class every year and we can't even finish in the top 25? Are you going to argue and say LSU has not had great recruiting classes under Miles? Even the NFL announcers keep saying how can a team that produces so much talent not compete for national titles on a yearly basis. Point the finger where it belongs at that's toward the coaches.

Just this year.

If you go by Rivals and raw talent, we should lock in 2 losses every year - Bama and Florida. Auburn might even have a higher average ranking over the last 5 seasons.

I'll take a 10-3 average over 10 years. I'll take an occasional 8-5 if there are championship runs on the other end.

4 games are a given so we go 6-3 afterwards and that's a great year

Compared to the 90's??? Yeah, it's practically like actually winning something meaningful in the post season!!!

Not a great year but it's a good year. Still better than 90% of the other teams. So its nothing you should hang your head down over

Absolutely. 10 wins doesn't really move the needle, hence 108 FBS schools not even getting around to winning 10 games. Great point.

The OP made no argument. He provided a list. It strikes a nerve with people like you for some reason.

10/13 = 77% win percentage. This is an outdated and bogus standard of "excellence" in modern college football, especially when about 3 of the 10 are typically cupcake games. That means a team has about 7 decent wins out of 13 appearances.
Always half empty with you people.

Then everyone should have them right? Since it's so easy now.

I read somewhere that Only 4 or 5 teams in the country have had 5 consecutive seasons of 8+ wins. That's it

From what I hear, only ***O***N***E*** team has 15 straight 8 win seasons. So apparently it is not really that easy. Hmmmm, wonder who that team is....

Exactly.

12 regular season games plus a bowl game. Going 10-3 is nice, but not nearly as powerful as it was 30 years ago.

Another one of my biggest pet peeves is teams proudly saying they're in a "New Year's Day bowl."

This meant something 30 years ago when it was only the Orange, Sugar, Rose, and Cotton bowls.

Now they have several lesser bowls on or after Jan. 1, so the whole "New Years Day bowl" thing has no meaning.

Disagree. They aren't as impressive as they were 30 years ago, but still are impressive. If it was easy, everyone would have 10 win seasons more often.

LSU's 10 win season in this millennium should be look upon proudly. Heck, you've got 10+ wins in 2 different three plus consecutive season stretches!

AU hasn't had back-to-back 10+ win seasons since 1988 & 1989 - and that's during this period of extra game.
