Other than the three lightning in the botttle seasons and 2011 which ended with the loss to Bama, LSU has averaged 8-9 wins per season since Saban arrived in 2000 (25 years). Saban won 8,9, 10, and 8 and he won 13 with the great D which sent 8 or 9 to the NFL. When Kelly arrived, the program was at or below the level of Curley Hallman. It took DiNardo’s recruiting and Saban to build on it to finally win a NC eight years later. Brady and Burrow were lightning in the bottle in 2019. Les missed a lightning in the bottle opportunity in 2011 and Kelly missed with Jayden last year. It will happen again, but only Saban at Bama has been able to string together a 10 year run with 11 plus wins and competing for a NC every year.

OMG. We’re not going to win the Natty every year and I’ll be damned if I’m going to act like a funeral over 2 or 3 loss seasons like those spoiled, entitled Bama fans. (Yes, I know we have 4 losses this year.)
We’ve had the second best program of the 21st Century and that’s a fact. 2020 & 2021 were the only down years and Covid had a lot to do with decimating that returning roster after the Natty.
Even so, we haven’t had a run of dysfunction like Bama had from ‘03-‘07. Look at the dumpster fire Florida has been and they were a juggernaut in the ‘00s. Want to trade places with Tennessee?
Don’t tell me you weren’t thrilled with the way ‘22 turned out. And as frustrating as the defense was in ‘23, we’d been complaining about not having explosive offenses under Miles for a decade.
This year has been painful to watch. It’s a step backwards from the last two for sure. And Kelly’s got a lot to figure out. This team has no identity. That’s on the coaches not getting the right personnel in the right spots and scheming consistently to their strengths.
But for F’s sake, stop the sauce tonight and realize it’s just football.
