It seems to be a pretty novel strategy which flies in the face of conventional wisdom about maintaining continuity in your offensive line. But, provided a) you have OL depth and b) you can effectively develop cohesive OL packages, I could see where it could counter Bama's massive DL by constantly hitting them with fresh bodies.

This is not intended to be a debate over Les Miles and the offense (dead horse). And, I know LSU's power running game was actually higher rated than Stanford's this year. But, it's the off-season, and I want to talk about football. Plus, I find Stanford's platooning of offensive linemen intriguing and reminiscent of the old Chinese bandits.

It would take a total remake of Jeff Grimes' career and philosophy. He's always been a best five, they may hate as long as they fear, full game test of wills guy.

Belicheck Incorporated this strategy even going as far as to rotate positions within the game to dispel tendencies.. I havent payed much attention lately but he did this partly because of youth and inexperience..

Notice I mentioned depth of the OL as one of the primary concerns. When Curly wasn't not letting the full team suit up, he was running their legs off the day before the game. I don't consider him to be an example of anything but pathology.

Stanford had the best OL I saw this year. but, I didn't note them playing any super high quality front 7's either.

He really needs to rethink that zone blocking scheme. It's awesome while you have 5 healthy guys. Lose one, and the whole house of cards folds.
