I was at the game tonight. The atmosphere was weird AF.

First, let me say that the A&M fans were very nice. I only met one jerk the entire night. Second and more importantly, their chants and yell leaders are even stranger and cultish in person. I didn’t realize the yell leaders are a thing during the games, but they are projected onto the main screens to lead these unbelievably long chants that the whole stadium does complete with cringy hand gestures. Every time they get a first down, the entire crowd does this chant that ends with a big “whoop!” I was seriously blown away by the weirdness of it all. Yes, they kicked our arse tonight, but I feel pretty comfortable that they will never have any sustained success unless they find a way to turn down the cheesiness of their game day experience. It really is at another level that you have to experience to understand.

Do the yell leaders pass out butt plugs by the stadium gates?

They didn’t at the gate that I entered, but we weren’t one of the first 10,000 in, so who knows?

The horns down is bizarre to me. Every time they showed a crowd shot, they were doing horns down. The little brother complex is strong in this bunch

My sister, who is a lesbian, offended her "heterosexual" Aggie guy friend when she said There were a lot of closeted homosexuals in the Corps band.
Apparently being a yell leader is considered Mega macho out there

Their cups were still those 74 - 72 cups commemorating their win against us from 4 years ago. Since that time, we have won a national championship and will play in Atlanta in two weeks. That game was a blip on our radar but was everything to them. I would be embarrassed if LSU did something like that. They think it’s trolling and upsets LSU fans, but they are too weird to understand how much it screams little brother.

Their cheers are so cringe. I felt like I was in some big Mega church without the snakes.

My boss is an Aggie and he even thinks they are cringe. Surprised with the amount of Aggies I know and work with in Houston think the same.

It was an all gay male school until the 1970s

Anyone who has ever been to an A&M game knows EXACTLY what you are talking about.

We get those frickers in BR next year. That's the only thing that makes me feel better.

My aggie Boss did say their Male Cheerleaders get like boy band female arse. Aggie girls look at them like Zac Efron.

Homosexuality is part of the weirdness. But, there's more too it. It's very cultish.

My brother and his friends nearly got arrested in 1996 for walking on some memorial patch of grass.

That surprises me given that pretty much everyone in the stadium seemed to be participating. That’s how I know they will never get rid of the weird shite even though it’s an obvious recruiting headwind. They better have a ton of money to spend on recruiting if they have to compete with that shite.

They played Calling Baton Rouge at the end of the game. They’re so obsessed with other teams, especially Texas, they can’t get out of their own way. Probably because they have no success as a program to rally around, so they take more pride in trying to “out fan” their rivals

The Aggie board was embarrassed AF least week at shooting the cannon at praying UMass players

I think he's downplaying. My guy probably still brings his white towel from his Aggie student years.
