I think this year has validated baker’s struggles vs running qbs were personnel related

Last year he flat out didn’t have the d line needed to stop the running qb,
In 2024 he didn’t have the d line again or the safety play to stop the running qb. He also didn’t have corners he trusted on islands to commit to loading the box and trusting his backend to handle themselves.
This is the first year baker fully has the players to neutralize the running qb.
D-line is loaded with talent, size and athleticism that he hasn’t had, safety play is athletic and physical, you have the best man to man cb in CFB in dj Pickett and another corner who can handle himself 1 on 1 in woodland so you can leave those two on islands and devote the bodies needed to neutralizing the running qb. Byron brown rushed for over 100 yards vs both Tennessee and GA but was held to only 31 by us. Thats a terrific terrific gameplan by baker.

I agree, think a lot of his problems were that players didn’t have it between the ears.

Agreed, yet he failed us in his scheme, planning, and play calling in 2 games. So that is on Baker.
The game plan in the 1st half of OM was awful and they waited too long to change. The 2nd half they looked great till the last drive when the zone came back.
The end of the game plan in the UK game was awful as well. He has to correct this zone defense and stop using it when teams are running 2 min offense. It has proven to be a disaster.
The 1st qtr of the Auburn game was similar to OM game. Contain the qb play zone and make him pass the ball. They moved the ball easily and thankfully the plan changed after that.
