There was a thread on this before, but I will re-state it: If my son was a Zach Oliver type kid (potential college QB, but not likely NFL type guy), then I would have a hard time sending him to LSU over a school like Northwestern or Stanford.

I probably would end up sending him to LSU if he had offers to both LSU and Northwestern, but it would be a very difficult decision.

Or maybe he realized its in his best interest to go to a school where he is high on their board and not just a backup plan

It would suck for him to get to LSU and the staff bring in another qb and he never see the field.

Thanks, man -- that's very nice of you: I really needed to laugh this morning to help dissipate the stress. I'm sure we'll be fine and it's a long time 'til NSD, but I was really surprised and taken aback to read that a solid local QB, who has done everything in his power to secure an offer to play at his hometown dream-school, threw in the towel so early! And like GeauxAggie listed, supra, there aren't that many possibilities remaining on the current list of QB recruits. Certainly I realize there's no need for headless-chicken-panic at this early date, but it's still surprising that our "guaranteed fallback" (at least!) local kid pulled the ripcord in June . . . and, at this point, the cupboard looks rather bare. That's all I'm saying . . . and thanks again!

Gotcha -- sorry I misunderstood. I'm not sure WHY GeauxAggie keeps bringing up that subject! I, too, would love to get an answer, though.

He's solid, but he has like 2 mid level offers....The coaches know more than we do, and almost none have offered him you're naive to think theres no reason for this.

We don't know the list or how we're actually doing with any of them.

I'd be shocked if we offered and he didn't switch his commitment to us.

Prescott is still available and wants on board, he looks at least as good as Oliver.

SFP, this thread is just getting wild.

People just don't want to admit that this kid isn't a good fit for what we want. He's just not a major D1 QB. They're stuck on he's a hometown kid. I wish him all the success in the world.

I guess I meant until his Sr. season. He wasn't a big junior prospect. He had a big Jr. year, but I don't think he was a really big time prospect until his Sr. year.

those are the same people who would say why are wasting a scholarship on a player who isn't getting offers from other SEC powers.

It amazes me how people on this board are willing to make statements that are full retard and not think anyone will notice. He wasn't a big time recruit until his Sr. year? Too bad for him, he could've left highschool earlier had he had the "want" his soph yr. BTW Tebow was "discovered" around his 8th grade year.

Good luck Zach. You should get a job at a frozen food warehouse or meat locker to prepare you for where you're going.

Once again why is that racist? The link about the mascot name is historical fact, and the rest are opinions based on the individual play it seems to me, or is it because of his sig name?

I do not get the worry national signing day is 7 months from now isn't it? Surely there are other players out there we are looking at. I think the infectious fear mongoring that is perpetuated on network news and such; has creeped into the rant and tiger nation. God help us! We need a new Leader!
