Yano's main job was lost when Frank came on board. QB coach would be nice.

He's going to Memphis to be Coach Yano's hair-stylist/goatee trimmer.

Major should have... Alabama ties

I doubt his one year as OC at Alabama where they made a six game turnaround the year after he left gave him strong recruiting ties into Alabama.

That said, I would love him as QB coach. He might as well leave Texas. Muschamp is the prince.

I was wondering if that was the plan. How old is Davis?

You mean the head coach in waiting will promote the offensive coordinator in waiting? That's a lot of in waitings.

If Mack and Davis leave at the same time, Texas would have a new HC, DC, and OC all at the same time.

That has disaster written all over it. I bet they try to get Davis to stick around for at least a year or two.

Major Applewhite

He did go to Texas and coaches there now, but if we could somehow get him here that would be a home run hire, imo.

Well, it was nice while it lasted.

RIP Yano jokes.

Thanks for the memories.

As for the Alabama ties, I would think he would have gotten in the good graces of at least a couple of coaches. That being said, it would mostly be about the Texas ties.

I don't know if he'd leave UT though, but it would be a great hire IMO.

Billy G needs to coach our TEs and we need to hire a proven QB coach.

That's what I've been posting for a long time. I said to either can or re-asign Yanowsky and hire a dedicated QB coach in his place. Looks like things are falling into place. BG can coach both WR's and TE's since they both do the same things. (Catch passes, run routes and block)

Of course I want the QB coach to be that guy from up the road in Kiln, MS if he finally retires this year. Ya know, the one that wore purple + gold this year and has a purple ankle to match. May be a pipe dream, but i'd sure as hell contact his agent immediately to see if he has ANY interest at all in college coaching......

Even though it sucks to lose Yano, it was cool that he waited for this class to sign before he left. If he would have bolted a week ago we could have lost recruits.

We should have Crowton coach the QBs, BG coach TEs and WRs and use Yano's salary to hire Lil Wayne as co-recruiting coordinator. All he's gotta do is make 25 phone calls and have a private concert on campus one saturday in the fall.

Really??? Isn't Favre known for going against the coaches calls and doing things you shouldn't do because he has the arm to do so and didn't A. Rogers say that Favre didn't help him out at all when he was in Green Bay? I know he has a ton of NFL experience, but I don't know if he'd be the best "coach".
