On Scout Hunter will definitely move into the Top 100. That was the talk from everyone when I was down in Orlando.

yea, maybe if Miles plays him. I have a feeling that he'll let him ride the pine for 2 years and then put him in for the occasinal option play.

I thought you were banned from this board? Thats unfortunate that you're not.

Well deserved, I called for this!

Marsh also makes a HUGE move. Hunter moves into the top 100.

Mike Davis moves into top 50 like Marsh.

Lache right on the border of 5*, not sure there.

I think Ego lost a star.

WTF do you gain by putting this in a good thread about our recruits?

I guess Jordon Allen's drop out of the 100 wasn't a shock but I was surprised to Reid get lowered to 90.

can really say this, at this point? what if those 5 star recruits aren't worth the shite once they get here, and continuously under perform while at LSU? you gonna be so excited about our "pulls" in a "down year" then?

all i'm trying to say is that we make way, way too much out of how many stars are next the name of incoming players.... for instance, if Marsh, Hunter, or Ware was a 1 star but still tore it the hell up in the all star game, would you still want him? really? or would you be so worried about us not landing an impressive class, "star" ranking wise?

the reason i hate powell, easley, floyd, etc. going to florida is because they are STUDS and will dominate offensive lines for at least 3 years while at florida, not because florida landed 3 guys with a lot stars with their names...

You're missing the point...it's just nice to see the guys get the recognition they deserve.

What if?

The reason people get excited is because these kids are highly ranked by a plethora of different websites while also racking up offers from premiere programs. It becomes obvious who the elite are.

Will players like Darrelle Revis be missed occassionally? Sure. But for the most part, these sites are going to uncover the best talent in the land.

Not only that, but if you think that the ranking of a team's previous and/or current recruiting classes isn't important to many recruits, then you're kidding yourself.

You sell some of these kids on the future, and you sell them on all of the great players coming in helping them to win championships.

I understand the disdain towards "stargazing", but the impact of recruiting rankings is by no means trivial.

It's not like the recruiting sites were the only ones that missed on Revis, he only had a handful of BCS offers (Pitt, Penn State, Kansas, West Virginia), and a few others from Duquesne and Western Kentucky (got the list from the Rivals profile).

Sometimes, that diamond in the rough slips under most people's radars.
