I'd have to see how he does in coverage. We desperately need a quality coverage safety.

Just like mekhi garner and bernard-converse.

Garner is a good example of a move like this working out well, but those two weren’t really the same case. JBC came from an Okie St team that made a Big 12 title run when Texas and OU were still there. He played on a very good defense and was very experienced.

You just have to set expectations. Someone like this likely won’t be more than a solid starter for you moving up to the SEC. Frazier is a good example coming from FIU. He was good in his time here and filled a needed role, but never a strength on the OL. CJ Daniels was better coming over from Liberty this year, but we still saw that his athleticism was more average than many of us expected playing vs SEC competition. He was solid and very reliable, but was never going to be a standout or star here.

As long as the staff feels like this Safety can hang athletically and they don’t have leads on anyone better, he’s definitely worth a look and may be an improvement over Burns, Ryan, and Gilbert. Just don’t expect him to come in and be better than a solid contributor.

With everything else we’ve brought on defense, we just need our safeties to be contributors. As long as they aren’t as glaring of a weakness as they were this year, we will be okay.

He’s definitely a hard nose player that’s not afraid to come down in the box and lay the wood. He did make some bonehead plays and got PF’s that cost his team late.

I was just speaking to being an all conference player with actual good tape as opposed to an sec kid that hasn't seen the field in 2 or 3 years.

Each scenario can work out. I just think people on here think these lesser conference players can't pan out. Jared verse is another one a bunch of us on here wanted and he came from Albany.
