I wouldn't say all that, but if we strike out on Emery and Cain, I'd take Spivey in a heartbeat. After watching Cain's junior tape he looks like a complete back, and by that I mean pass blocking, and receiving. I love that they show him pass blocking as a highlight (something you almost never see in a RB's highlight film). That will get him snaps before any other freshman back.

Yeah, and I think this is worth repeating:

quote:

During the 2017 season IMGA defeated 4 State Champions; against this circle of champions, no one was better than Cain. The 3X All USA RB led all Ascenders in yards from scrimmage, rushing and rush TDS

And that is sharing snaps with the #1 RB in the nation. When you factor in the level of competition played you see the difference. No knock on Spivey, because the kid looks really good, but the defenses he went against the LBs and safeties were out of position almost every play highlighted. Cain was often bracketed by LBs and safeties once he broke through the LOS. That's why I later added Curry's JR film where he played a similar defense to what Spivey encountered. Once he got past the LOS the LBs and safeties were in poor position.

Pretty cool how Cain is sharing the backfield with Trey and is still putting up those numbers. I dont think people understand the level of competition he faces either.

You know how many kids play high school football? They cant scout each and every high school in the nation.

Over 1 million 86 thousand. And I believe the article stated that 61 high schools added 22-man football teams in 2017. I know they can't scout all of them.

Sure seems like the recruiting rankings do a pretty good job

They do, no question. They also have misses. But for someone to say Surtain is definitely better than Goodrich based on recruiting rankings is akin to saying Malachi Dupre (undrafted) is better than DJ Chark (drafted) because Dupre was a 5-star #2 rated WR and Chark was a 3-star and 59th WR in the same class.

Well, statistically Dupre had a better career in 3 years than Chark did in 4 years. Chark just reached his potential in his last year where as Dupre never reached it in his LSU career and foolishly left early. That example again proves the value of 5* recruits considering they are generally more prepared for college straight out of hs.

And Surtain isn’t a better prospect than Goodrich because 247sports said so. He’s a better prospect because he dominated every game and camp of his high school career at a powerhouse school. Combine that with his already SEC ready frame and athleticism and you have a can’t miss prospect. You may not agree with me, but every D1 coach in america does

Now do a list of four stars and five stars and the ProBowls they’ve been to, since you like lists.

we need 2 stud rb’s

Do we, though? Don't forget we have Provens, Curry, and CEH. All will be here for quite some time.

did a little research surrounding this year's Pro Bowl roster. He found 37 of the 88 players headed to the NFL Pro Bowl were 3-star or lower recruits. Interesting stuff.

For fricks sake. You’re just as dumb here as the rant. No shite there are a bunch of 3 star kids making the pro bowl. Do you even know how many kids are given 5,4,3 stars, etc? If you chart them out by percentage of each class that “make it”, it is very obvious that they do a great job with the rankings. They don’t hit every one perfect, but they do a great job.

Besides all of that, the bigger point is that LSU missed out on 2 tremendous CB prospects by slow playing Goodrich for Surtain & it ultimately backfired on them.

I believe that is his point.

I absolutely agree and it is one more of the many positives that I have seen with this staff and this program lately. Very encouraging.

Just like Donte Starks didn't commit until July 8th. Stating what a high school player like it is fact is pretty hysterical.

Sure kids change their mind about this sort of thing.

However...

I just state what a player himself (Cain) has said repeatedly as to what his plan is regarding making a commitment and you try to call me out, but yet you get excited about what a completely different person (Kardell) says about a player (Cain) and think that is more accurate?

Hmmm...not sure I follow your logic.

I'll be happy to ban bet you over both Cain being LSU's next commit and Tua ending up at LSU.

You game Ponamsky?

You are absolutely BRILLIANT !!!!

I say that I think it is ridiculous that you state what high school athletes are going to like it is a FACT.

So naturally, you come up with the genius idea that you think I will do a ban bet over what teenagers are going to do. Jesus dude, use the noggin even if just a very little.

So I take that as a no then.

I never stated anything as "FACT". I either go by what a kid actually says (wow...what a concept) or I state my opinion.

It's just that I trust my opinion more than yours and am willing to stand behind it.

That dudes better than Emery. Sorry

It's just not possible to know which will be better a year from now when they're suiting up for college ball. Teenagers grow and mature physically, athletes hone their skill. Sometimes adding muscle mass dramatically affects quickness, sometimes it doesn't. A year out it really is a guessing game.

Bud Elliot called John Emery “the best back of 2019”

I’m inclined to take his opinion over yours.

Why you say that? Cain is a higher rated RB than Emery on pretty much any site and his highlights are as good as emerys

Don't get me wrong, id love for LSU to get Emery as well.
