It won't be an embarrassment unless someone takes the time to send it to Louisiana high school coaches. I don't have the time or the resources to do so. Maybe an enterprising Tiger fan with the time, resources and contacts can get this sort of word out.

Roger how bout posting a link. I just went to yahoo and looked, didnt see it.
What i did see was at least 5 different references to bama in some way shape or form
and 1 reference to CLM"Lashing out at QB who spurned the tigers"
Media Bias? Nahhh

Didn't Miles make a kid move out of his dorm because the numbers didn't work and he would have to greyshirt?
No but I remember Saban pulling that on a kid while the head coach at LSU once. I thought they had an understanding but maybe not.
I do know Craig Steltz said Saban put him in a game late in his redshirt year. When he asked Saban later about his redshirt year Saban said he changed his mind. BTW- There was no real need for Steltz to go in and play in the game. Saban wanted Steltz out the door in 4 years instead of 5.

You don't know what you are talking about.
You seem to be completely clueless unless you work in the Ath Dept at UA. Because all the info I posted was from all the sites that report the info. The only info over that I will take with more validity is someone that works in the the football or Atl dept.
Simple math here. UA can sign 25 plus whatever backcounters. Lets say 2 backcounters so a total of 27. But staff looks at returning players and says we only have room for 26 players because we have 59 players that will return.
So UA signs 26 players with 2 backcounting towards the last class. Meaning only 24 that signed were with the incoming class. Now UA will have 85(magic number)for fall camp. Come Jan Philon is an EE. Since the 2012 class has only 24 signed to it meaning 1 in the 2013 class can be backcounted into 2012, Philon is now backcounted into 2012. I hope that math is simple enough.
Some people really need to understand and research before they post. But believe what you want since you seem to consider yourself an expert. You win.

Name one player that came from under the almighty Saban that's flourishing in the NFL right now. Go ahead I'll wait.

Greg McElroy is making a name for himself with the Jets.

Elliot Porter spent the summer months in Baton Rouge, one of 20-plus freshmen signees who enrolled in summer school in June and began their offseason workouts with the team.
Yep Kingpin, you're familiar with this type of situation at bama. Kind of like Harrison Jones who enrolled in classes, spent the Summer working out with the team and brother Barrett and in August was told by Saban, sorry bro we need room, see you in the Spring.

Not everyone was expected to qualify. They all did. It was a surprise. Someone had to go and unfortunately Porter was offered the gray shirt, which he didn't want. But, the coaches thought it would work out. Very different from what Saban did yesterday.
Please explain the difference... there was a surprise, and a player was asked to greyshirt..

Alabama's surprise was that 2 guys picked them on signing day and they had to make room by pushing a guy out. LSU's surprise was that everyone qualified academically. That rarely happens. This was a couple of years ago when everyone was over signing, and academic casualties was one of the reasons why.
Now, you can't take more than 25.

Sorry, but that dog don't hunt.. Both coaches got themselves into a situation where they had to make a tough decision about a kid's future.. They each chose to do the same thing and ask a player to greyshirt.. I don't like the way either went about it, but it happens...

miller wasn't asked to greyshirt, he was asked to enroll in august instead of january he still had a schlorship.
He could have signed on feb 1, but he wanted to enroll early, LSU was limited in the number of EE's it could have. They decided to let kiel enroll early and asked miller to enroll with the rest of the signing class in august.
You do realize that the kids who signed on feb 1 and enroll in august are not all greyshirts. they are scholarship athletes which was what miller would have been.

The Lord God Almighty will punish Saban for this. I'm telling ya, cancer of the heart is headed his way.

Grey Shirt Rule: If you are a D-1 prospect but need a year of learning, you'll have a choice to "grey shirt." It simply means you take less than 12 credits and work out with the team. Your 5-year clock does not start until you take 12 credits
Someone taking the greyshirt route does not enroll in college until the spring semester. Therefore, in recruiting, he/she wouldn't be considered a true recruit for that year and sign a LOI
Miller would have enrolled in august 2012, not january 2013.

LSU needs a better scout in mobile, al. This bullshite is starting to turn kids off. Jimbo Fisher is about to own South Alabama by jumping on kids early and staying on them. And not lying his arse off.

That kid will have a chance to be an impact player elsewhere instead of transferring in 2 years when he can't get on the field at Alabama.

A grey shirt pays his own way and cannot be a full-time student, or his 5-year clock starts. He also cannot practice with or engage in strength and conditioning training with the team or be treated by team doctors. He is separate from the team and is a part-time student who pays his own way.

Look guys...
Several coaches oversign, yank schollys at the 11th hour, greyshirt, cut kids by way of phony medical redshirt and phony transfers, etc. Nick Saban does it every year. Les Miles has done it every year. Serveral coaches do it. The worst offender historically is actually Houston Nutt (at least the hat does it and wins). Several other coaches do not. It's a personal choice.
What happened here is nor better or worse than any other time either he or Miles or anyone has done it. And I would venture to guess that 95% of the kids who have gotten caught in this purge were told in advance they were on the choppng block...as has been claimed in this case.

Except that Harrison Jones never greyshirted. He was a true freshman during the 2010 season.
