signing rule? Didn't Ole Miss sign like 30 something just last year, and haven't we signed more than 28 in the past? Whats up with this?

they signed like 35...

after they did, the NCAA enforced a rule saying you couldn't sign past 28.

SEC rule, put it in last year. My guess is to eliminate/or lower attrition?

I think the schools should be the ones to decide how many to sign. Is this just a tactic to even out the talent, instead of having your usuall heavyweights?

No, to limit attrition is my best guess. Less you can sign the less schollies get pulled.

Well, I would have to beleive that this will help the lesser talented recruits get into bigger named schools.

why do you feel that schools should be able to sign 35 kids when they can enroll no more than 25? It's bad for the kids involved.

Sounds like you don't understand that only 25 can enroll and there isn't a whole lotta competition between February and August. It's a great rule.

I'm not sure you got the concept of the question I asked. Why would you sign 35 players if only 25 could enroll in school? Those other 10 are left in limbo, they are not competing with anyone, and there is no way they could transfer because they aren't in school anywhere. And they can't just up and go to another school because other schools will have already filled their classes up with people and will have no room for those kids. Once again, that situation is bad for the kids involved.

I understand what you are saying, but what happened when schools signed more 28 in the past, which was just last year. What was the plan?

Often times when you saw very large classes being signed, it was because the schools knew a good many of them wouldn't qualify anyway, but wanted to be the ones who "signed" the kid so 2 years later if he makes it out of JUCO, they might have an advantage in the re-recruitment.

I see this topic a lot on this board...

Only 25 guys signees can receive a scholly for the year. 28 is the most you can sign in a recruiting class, just incase 3 decommit or dont qualify with grades. Nutt, yes did sign 37 guys but they were placed in Juco,Prep school, or didnt qualify. He did it to start a relationship with the schools and coaches in Mississippi..

Only 25 guys can sign..IN regards to LSU, they have 24 guys, and according to this board and other services, looking toward 28. So, that means 3 guys have to De-commit, Sign and Place (juco), or attend prep school with hopes to sign again next year in 11. So technically, we only have one spot open, if all 24 are staying aboard.

Adams, counted towards 09, since they only signed 24, and were under the 85 scholarship limit going into the new semester.
