Internet tough guy syndrome. In real life they are total losers, this gives them some sense of superiority. They can't wait to tell you your thread is redundant or needs to go on another board, or just stupid in their opinion. Pushovers in life, ITG on the boards.

But this only makes the problem worse. Seriously, if someone asks a question that has been answered a hundred times, then we should answer it and politely inform that person to use the search function -- and then that thread will quickly drop off the front page.
In reality, what happens is 15 people decide to post pictures of Nazis, 20 decide to call the OP a douchebag, someone mentions what Dandy Don said about the topic and WWIII erupts between his supporters and detractors.
In the meantime, the board stays "clogged up", not because of the original redundant post, but because so many others on here feel more manly if they can successfully insult someone on an internet forum.
