Why do we offer many players in the South, that Alabama and Florida are not offering? These teams are listed as recruiting the players, but have not offered.

Because we're better at evaluating talent

It upsets me to think that our recruiters may be bringing our talent level down to mediocre.

This thread is going South, because fans are in denial. Not too many real answers to the question---just sarcasm. Keep going.

Our performance on the field would suggest the talent level has dipped. I believe the 2009 and 2010 class are at a championship level. 2011 has that potential as well.

So give us a team that is in a BCS conference that has won their Conference/BCS championship with a Freshamn or Soph QB

I just rewatched the bama game from last year and I agree with what you've said for only one position.

Our QB play is weak. So many of our OL have transfered, and we played well enough on D to win the game and the FL game.

If you graphed it out there would indeed be a dip in talent level. The 2005 recruiting class hurt more than we thought it would. USC will understand 3-4 years after this next recruiting class.

Don't mistake me though.. it wasn't all talent.

Just my two cents, but these types of thoughtful inquiries tend to flow better when LSU is not in the middle of signing the top recruiting class in America, imho.

We had a lot of deflections from the 2006 class as well. Those two years of rebuilding talent and poor QB play have really hurt us.

why do uf/bama offer recruits that no one else has offered? it goes both ways

what should the coaches do, wait til florida and/or alabama offers a recruit and then offer him?

mo claiborne turned out pretty good and no one else of any consequence offered him

it also goes to what the coaches are looking for and what players will fit their system, and also what other players they are after (could be waiting for a 5* player so why offer the 4*)

how is it that lower level d-1 schools continue to have players drafted? could it be that some good players slip through the cracks, just cause UF/BAMA didnt offer a player doesnt mean they arent worth a damn
