Why do we not have more football players from Texas???

Who recruits Texas for LSU? I mean we should be able to recruit just Louisiana and texas and stay at elite status. Oklahoma does it yearly.Every year we lose out on kids from all over the east and west coast because a kid gets pressure from their home state or decide just to play closer to where they live due to family. LSU usually has a weakness at LB, QB well texas produces those every year. University of texas only has 28 scholarships available right? That leaves probably over two to three hundred d-1 prospects that LSU could pick from. There's no reason we can't out recruit Oklahoma for texas players. You can't tell me top players don't want to play in the best conference in the nation right? Is this the reason why we are playing in Dallas to start next season? If we could recruit dallas and houston hard we could solve our qb and LB problems right there. Driving distance is reasonable so home sickness wouldn't be an issue. I mean if someone can tell me why we only have a few players from texas on our roster when they have top recruits that leave their state yearly then i would like to know? Can LSU have more than one recruiter in one area? I say we make inroads into texas then LSU stays elite for a long time.

We have been getting our fair share every year. Not sure how much you could really ask for in this department.

A ton of other schools from around the country go to TX for players.

Stud, Crowton, & Ensminger were our recruiters for the TX players we got in 2010 and 2011.

off the top of my head
Lee
Shep
Brockers
Loston
Ron Brooks
Tolliver
We recruit Houston area hard
As a recruiter, it hurt a little when Peveto was shown the door. It will pick back up though.

Oklahoma does so well there for 2 reason. They have to because their state does not produce a lot of talent and because their name has much more prestige to kids in NE,east and mid Texas. We are strong particularly in the Houston area.We do well there.A lot of our resources go to LA and the southeast states like GA,AL,FL and recently VA and the Carolinas.I'd love to get more involved in Texas but UT and Oklahoma are hard to beat there.

Adrian Peterson agrees.

So someone like Lee or RS would be good?

I am going to have to disagree with you there. Being in the same conference as Texas, Texas a&m and Texas tech gives OK a leg up in recruiting.
People in Texas generally think Louisiana is shite. They might hate Oklahoma but they don't respect Louisiana. Mainly because Texas people kinda suck.

Seriously, finding people here that have any clue about football is difficult. They don't know shite about other conferences other than the big Texas conference.

Yes.

Again, we already do. And do we really have a big lb problem?

Louisiana has some pretty good recruits too?

This. In 2007 I'm pretty sure it was 30ish.
I get the OPs point, but it's tough to have beef with a system that is netting you top 10 classes for the past half decade.

i think we should build the wall around louisiana. then cherry pick guys from hou/DFW, then up into mississippi, and down into mobile(although that well has kinda tried up last few years b/c of shorty).
i think we do a great job in TX. im not sure what the OP thinks we should be getting. and i would argue OU is much stronger in DFW than houston. in houston, UT is the biggest obstacle, then aTm IMO

One from Michigan, one from Nebraska, one from Maryland, one from Kansas, one from Ohio, one from New Jersey.
7 or 8 from Georgia

This was more about THE TEAM demographics than "recruiting" per se. Nit pik move imo, especially on a McNeese week.

Lee was a top QB recruit was he not? But, I can see us getting a couple QB's every 2-3 years and 1 nof them from Texas would give us a good cross section of QB Talent.
The other thing is when we lost ground to NE Louisiana a few years back it hurt us big time. If we can get back to keeping our better recruits here at home it will do so much more for our good than going elsewhere.
Granted the next 2-3 years are going to better than the last 2-3 years but, if we get 15-20 of our best kids here in the state we will not have a problem in recruiting whatsoever.

I love how we want more Texas kids ,but the first time a La. kid leaves for another out of state school, it is"how could he?,don't expect to live here afterwards". We can't have it both ways. Only 2 players have turned down U Texas offers in 8 yeards, A Peterson and J McFarland, both went to OU.We will continue to recruit Tx, but La. should come first.

Texas has lost plenty of recruits. Off hand they lost a guy to BYU last year

If I seem to recall a lot of the Texas players that have signed ended up leaving-One of our problems with the OL over the last two years.

Huh? If there is one area of the state that has it's kids go to LSU, it is NE Louisiana.

They have four major in state programs and OU recruits strong there as well. I think we do fine there.
