I wonder how much of MVB's (or anyone) situation is the staff saying, "hey man here's our number and where you stand, take it to market and if you can't beat it feel free to stay"

No one's advocating for MVB to be LSU's starter. He would've been a serviceable backup option with veteran SEC experience--especially under Kiffin's system.
