What is Dutchtown like as a place to watch a game?
And would we be better off staying in BR on Friday night anyway? Will there be action there that night?

Dutchtown is nice small community but is growing very fast, only 10-15 min from downtown Baton Rouge.... The High School is located about a half mile south of the interstate on hwy 73 and the school is only about 5-6 years old.....i would def stay in baton rouge the friday night or maybe even in Gonzales La which neighbors Dutchtown and has plenty of hotels... Baton Rouge on a Friday night during the LSU vs Florida home game will be a crazy fun atmosphere, especially around all the college bars..

It won't be that weekend... but in my honest opnion the Homer vs Haynesville game has the best atmosphere of any rivalry in the state. If you ever been you know what I'm talking about. 2 small schools with the longest rivalry in the state and the fans are very passionate. I've been to games all over the state and this is easily the tops. I also look for the states 2nd longets rivalry Ruston vs Neville to kick it uo a few notches now that they are in the same district again (as they belong together IMO)

Good call...my wifes family is from Homer and i have been to that game several times...great game and atmoshpere.. I would stiil put the St.Amant vs. East Ascension rivalry above that one. The game pulls 10,000+ but the area population is also greater than that of Homer.Dont get me wrong its my opinion aginst yours but i think all us drunk coonasses down here just get all wound up and its electric !especially when the BOOOOM of the St. Amant cannon goes off after every home team score... Its now grown into a week long ordeal with Fishing Tourny's , Golf Tourny's, and Food eating Contests.... all in all High School Sports is great state wide....

I've gone to several WM games and never had my car searched. I know several people who go to the games every home game none of them have been searched by police. You seem just a little bitter about getting busted or something.

And you are basing your statement on what facts?
Did I say I was going to a game? Did I say I got busted? I didnt even get a ticket , it was pure BS! Did I say you were a jackass? I should have said the last one though. IT WAS LAST WEEK. Pulled over for a light out .Guess what I get home and thier wasnt a light out . BITE ME, IM still pissed. Dam shaved headed nazi looking pieces of shiit. Police are like everything else , I respect what they do , but you are an IDIOT if you think everyone that puts on a uniform lives up to the 90% that you call on when you need help (kind of like ALL N.O. police wear halos). A few bad apples situation

5A schools have larger stadiums and larger enrollment. For a 4A school, Breaux Bridge has a good tradition and is a good football environment.

You either drive really, really slow or you go the wrong way. You don't go I-20 to I-55 to I-12 do you? Just go to Rayville and go right to Natchez, then another right. 180 miles...unless you average 45 miles an hour, no way in hell should it take you 4 hours.

Make the 3hr drive and watch Ouachita vs. West Monroe! I played in 3 of those games and they were always great, esp the ones at West Monroe! Its an atmosphere that I haven't seen duplicated in any other highschool games.

Thanks for all of your advice everyone. The schedule for the Friday, October 9th games has been released.

LINK

I've looked it over, keeping in mind your comments. I think the West Monroe game is just a little ambitious.

I am leaning towards the Destrehan @ Dutchtown game. But here are the games I am considering based on everyone's comments and logistics. Let me know what you think, and what I am missing:

1) Destrahan @ Dutchtown;

2) St. Amant @ East St. John;

3) East Ascension @ Hahnville;

4) Riverside @ Curtis.

5) St. James

What do you think?

Atleast go and see the best program in the state and a nationally ranked team in Curtis.
