I would ask you to elaborate, but I believe we just have two different views on what a hick town is.
Regardless, this thread was intended to absolutely paint Auburn as a town in the middle of nowhere with nothing in it and essentially is trash. A simple read through paints that picture crystal clear.

Idaho and Washington state are overflowing with hick towns. Idaho and Washington also happen to be two of the most beautiful states I have ever seen.
ditto for Montana.

This sounds like a spinoff of a Jeff Foxworthy joke

ETA: I'm really just trying to convey that this thread was made to paint Auburn in a bad light. Maybe SFP really was just curious about what made Auburn appealing, seeing how all he had to go on was secondhand information and speculation; but this thread went on for so long because people like Maximus jumped in to show how Auburn is nothing but trash.

I'm not an Auburn backer but I have to say this: The new Auburn OC is gonna turn some heads. To say he failed at his one shot at the big time is a big mis-stated comment. Its not worth the details but just know the guy's hands were tied at Arky and time will justify why they (Auburn) hired him and why his coaching career will cont. to rise.

I wish they would have enticed J. Lee.

SFP has proven in this thread and others that he has no clue what he's talking about.
He's 100$ convinced that Auburn is a hell hole even though he admits he's never been there.
SFP calling Malzahn a failure is crazy and proves he hasnt been paying attention.

Malzahn allowed himself to be a pawn at Arkansas. I mean, he had to know why he was being hired.
At Tulsa, he did some impressive things. And as a buddy of mine pointed out (even when I thought he was completely wrong

unless he overhauls his offense in a major way (and then it wouldn't be "his" offense), he will fail
you can't spread it out to 4-5 WRs and throw it deep in a conference with legit speed rushers. your QB will be eaten

I tend to agree. Like I said, he did run the ball a lot at Tulsa, so it looks like his scheme is evolving a little. I would go so far as to say Malzahn is a better hire than Franklin.

The real question is, does Auburn have the personnel to run Malzahn's offense in the SEC now?
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK no
and i think franklin's offense > malzhan's. franklin ran a spread/spread-option hurry up that was hard to defend with troy talent. and getting talent for that offense will be easier than malzhan's
they have NOTHING at WR except 20 year old freshman benton. they have NOTHING at QB. their OL isn't top-notch and it's still holdovers from tubby (aka, big run blockers who aren't good at pass blockin). they have some OK RBs and that's it

With Auburn's current personnel, I agree.
In terms of adaptability, I think Malzahn is starting to prove he can do some other things... which is good, because it appears their only chance this year will be to turn Kodi Burns into VY-Lite in the spread option game.

and i don't think malzhan is real versed in the SO

Fannin?
Posted on 6/10/09 at 10:15 am to Ross
Fannin will be All SEC first team at WR and RB.

We lined him up at both last year, and he did pretty good. One of the only players I can say that about regarding last year.

Is he going to qualify?

Chizik is on record saying he is expected to, and if I recall correctly Rollison commented that he is sure he will qualify.
I don't know if anything formal has been announced, but I'm fairly confident that he will qualify.
