Here's a novel idea. Maybe, just maybe the kid decided that Tenn. was a better fit for him than LSU.
You LSU fans (Bama fans also) just kill me. A kid is great as long as he is going to the school we, as fans, want him to. But let him change his mind and he instantly becomes less than human. It's really pathetic how so many people can trash a 17 or 18 year old kid, or a member of his family, or his coach, when 99.99% of the people that post on here don't even know the kid or his family.
So J.J. decided to go to Tenn. Big deal, yall still had arguably the best class in the nation. Could the kid have handled it better, of coarse, but he didn't. Get over it already.

I'm not going to trash the kid or his family, nor even Kiffin. But I can tell you that Kiffin made a choice to use tactics that will hurt UT in the long term.

After what happened this year, I fully expect that Miles, Myers, and Saban will all be telling their recruits that if they take a trip to UT they will not be getting a scholarship offer. And any scholarships that have been offered will automatically be rescinded if a trip to UT is taken. I wouldn't be surprised if some other SEC schools join in, especially SC and UGA.

Now, if you are a recruit, would you take a trip to UT knowing that this will eliminate any and all interest from all of the top teams in the SEC? Not if you are unsure like most of these kids are.

You reap what you sow. Bad move Kiffin. You are screwed.

That would be extremely stupid. How well do you think "my way or the highway" works on a 17 or 18 year old kid?

Maybe that's Lame's real objective: Market himself as a "badass Southern renegade" and wait for rebels without a clue to jump on his big orange bandwagon.

There is no better place for Kiffin than where he is the head coach right now. That much I'm convinced of.

That's just it... It's not my way or the highway. Explore all the options available to you ... except one. UT convinces recruits to lie to us, and we aren't putting up with it again this year. Enjoy the rest of your visits.

...And one other thing, that's pretty much what Saban did this year. Bama clearly suffered no ill effects from this policy.

I believe if that's true it's because most of Bama's recruits had all but made up their minds to go to Bama.

Recruiting is a sales pitch. You start recruiting a kid without letting him explore whatever options he wants, or tell him specifically that he CANT do something OR ELSE and you might as well pack his bags for Knoxville (with exceptions of course).

Perhaps if only one school were doing it, you might be right. But as I said if most of the SEC adopts the same policy that recruit might be giving up chances at LSU, UF, Bama, UGA, and SC just to see what UT has to offer. What would you do?

Let kids make up their own mind. Let your program sell itself.

And when your team takes the field against Kiffin's Vols, don't take your foot off the gas pedal (see the Chik-fil-A Bowl for the blueprint on how to combat shite talking coaches).

That's what I'd do.

On that note, the ucla vs. Tennessee game is going to be agonizing for me. Because one of those teams will win.

I'm surprised not one person has mentioned Ed Orgeron's role in all of this mess. Don't be surprised if Daddy Guidry winds up as an assistant coach or in some kind of job at Tennessee in the next few years........

The problem is he acted like a coward when he lied to Miles.

FWIW - if I committed to LSU and my dad's a coach, I know the consequences if I pulled crap like that. If I was a recruiter going against Guidry, I would use his son's recruiting as an example of what kind of person he really is. As far as JJ, if I want to play DB in the pro's and am about to cause the crap he caused, I would have signed with Satan. At least, he has a track record for putting good DB's in the pro's. With Ole Man Kiffin leaving in a year, JJ will not sniff the field and will be stuck up there wishing he was somewhere else.
