If you checkout the combined LSU vs bama defensive signees for the '16 and '17 recruiting cycles you will see that the tigers have out recruited them.

Go watch Dantriez (sp?) Scott's film. If you think that guy is a 3 star you're special.

See and that's one of the big flaws with this recruiting thing. Scott is much bigger than his competition so they won't rank him high. LSU has seen him up close with better competition and still offered but no one else has seen him up close against good competition.

I think he has some work to do but he's a good natural talent. I think this class will turn out just fine in a few years but may not have a whole team full of freshman starters. LSU doesn't need that at this time because of our depth on defense. On offense we will need year one starters and maybe in the secondary but look at what we are recruiting in those areas. Year one starters. People need to clam the frick down, this staff knows what they're doing, most of you clowns don't have a clue.

ipodking Weak-Side Defensive End Recruits Why are you so worried about WDE?

WDEs are generally the smaller DEs who double as OLB, especially the Buck LB, but also used as an F.

There are several out there still available that we haven't gone after, mostly because we are nearly full, I suspect. But there are several top WDEs and OLBs and large SAFs, all of whom would make good OLBs in LSU's Base 3-4 Defense.

LSU is losing 5-7 LBs (depending upon how you classify Clark) this year, and most of them are OLBs. We goona be light in the LB corps again.

I'd say there is cause for concern.

lsufanva Weak-Side Defensive End Recruits Considering in our defense most WDE stand up and play OLB, we are in good shape with the guys in campus and in this class currently. How many do we really need?

We need to replace who we lose, plus 1 or 2, if possible, over the next few years, but at least replace 5 this year, at a minimum. Presently, we have Clark, Baskerville, Cherry (all LBs/OLBs), plus arguably Moore and Scott, but the latter 2 might end up being larger 5 tech DEs in a 3-4. The same goes for Mike Williams. But Aranda has used the bigger guys with success on the outside. Williams would arguably make LB #6, but we may lose Moore to qualifications, some have said.

If Mike Williams, Scott, and Moore are all LBs, we are good, numbers wise. If we lose Moore, or if any of those 3 end up too large (or slow) to play LB/OLB, then we may be short in the LB corps - probably why we are still recruiting Andres Fox and Andrew Chatfield, still in contact with Merlin Robertson, Bumper Pool, and maybe a few others.
