I'd even look at an athletic goon like Michigan had, if all he did was get you 12 rebounds a game he's worth it.

Most big guys like that rely on size throughout high school and rarely are developed enough to play meaningful minutes in college. Wade needs a giant whisperer to come in and teach these big guys if he gets them.

Wade wants offensive spacing. Big stiffs who are largely limited to the post destroy the spacing and clog up the lanes. At minimum, he wants bigs athletic enough to get out on the perimeter. Ralph fricking Sampson is not the kind of player Wade is interested in recruiting. Get over it.

Wade's ideal big is a guy like St. Bonnies had. 6'10 with tremendous LENGTH and athletic ability to play in an up-tempo style. I 100% in favor of getting a guy or two like that. But can we please stop with the "we need this guy" posts every time some 7 foot stiff pops up on the recruiting board?

I don’t disagree, but then he signs Josh Gray.

KBW seems like the perfect guy for Wade. Athletic rim protector who can move and run the floor.

Gray is probably a little more athletic than we give him credit for, but you also see that Wade didn't play Gray much...despite their being some nights where a big really hurt LSU and struggling with defensive rebounding all year. Still, Gray's natural size is one of those things you can't "teach". So I suspect Wade took a bit of a flier on him to see how it might work out. IIRC, I think he was the last (excluding Fudge who was originally a 21 player) of the 2020 class to commit. Gray could probably develop into a solid player. But it is clear he didn't quite fit what LSU wanted to do THIS SEASON.

Exactly. Wade wants to run. He doesn't necessarily have to have a big who can shoot/drive from the perimeter. But he wants one that is comfortable stepping out to defend the perimeter a bit and who can move off the pick and roll well.

If you listened to Wade's pre-game press conf. before Michigan he mentioned that no one in the SEC had bigs like Michigan. That is 6'11, 7'1, burly guys inside. He said the SEC has "bigs" more like SBU's. Considering LSU will play (most years) 18+ games against SEC opponents he knows he has to be able to compete with them first and foremost. While Michigan's bigs may have created a mis-match last night, going in the other direction may have created a mis-match all season for LSU in SEC play.

I think the game last night showed how teams that pass the ball effectively can create open shots. Michigan broke down our D in critical points in the game this way. If we were able to pass like that we could have won...even w/out a big man.

Give me a KBW or Jordan Mickey on this team we just had and we are a legit Final Four team.

If O'Neal had been healthy, all season, we would have won that game. A 6'9" athletic guy would have been able to rebound and give some flexibility to the team.
We were very limited with Day's and Hyatt vs tall athletic players.

He can't. All this clown does is cry about Will Wade.

Most wins in the past 3 seasons in the SEC. Clearly Wade is a bad coach.
