It may be a germans question but is there any deadline to sign with a school for the players that made the May 1st declaration cut-off? (other than just Fall enrollment at the school of choice)

May 1 is the deadline that has now passed for a player to enter the Transfer Portal to be eligible for Fall sports.

But the player does not have to be at the school by May 1 as I have seen others state on The Rant. In fact, LSU still has two player signings to get to our 32 player limit. I have looked all over for the signing deadline and have found nothing. So, I am just assuming that the signed players have to be enrolled in school to be eligible to train with the team this Summer and to get ready for the Fall. Course scheduling at myLSU is now open.

All of the unsigned players currently in the portal could still potentially sign elsewhere or potentially rejoin the team.
(Revised, thanks Curtis) According to a recent post by "Curtis Lowe", there are 14 scholarship players and 2 walk-ons in the portal for LSU.

Yes and No. Yes, players can no longer enter the Transfer Portal and be eligible to play in Fall 2022. But they can still enter the Transfer Portal.

I'm still on an OL but we'll find out what the coaches think soon enough.
Maybe the guy from USCe or the Center from AZ St. but I really don't see anyone else - TEs included - in there right now that could cut it in the SEC.

Damathe, I think you are likely right on that player info reporting delay.

I see 12 players showing up today May 2nd on the 247 Transfer Portal list. There is an article on one of the players listed May 2nd, Tennessee LB Aaron Willis, that states he is putting his name in the portal before the May 1 deadline.

One thing that Kelly made very clear is that he’s not done filling out this LSU roster. Here’s what he said about the situation regarding the allocation of scholarships in his opening statement. “On Jan. 4, we had 39 scholarship players,” Kelly said. “On Aug. 4, when we report our first day, we’re going to get to 84. We might not get to 85, but we’re going to be at 84. So we’ll get the roster back to where it needs to be in very short order.” The Tigers have already hit the transfer portal quite a bit, and that number now sits closer to 80. However, there’s still room for a few more, and it’s clear Kelly wants to add some guys to the mix.


I have looked all over for something more definitive, but most of what I saw was just people wondering about the scholarship count. I think we will be close to 85. I believe Coach Kelly will do a much improved job in managing our roster.

You need to look closer at that list. Only 14 scholarship players are in the portal from LSU (plus two walk-ons). The list also includes the 15 incoming portal transfers to LSU.
