Now that CLEO is facing her last contract year, she convinces several seniors to return, COVID eligibility, then lures, so far, two grad-transfers into a final year at LSU?

CLEO runs off 6 underclasswomen, losing her only highly rated sophomore, Walker High alum via Evangel, and 5 more who just consumed full rides and provided no return for the investment. Then, audaciously releases a statement about returning LSU WBB to a position of power in 2021-22??

Consider: All top players will depart after CLEO’s final grasp to keep her job, all this after 10 years of NOTHING. Yes she lost Young from WHS and will lose the two glorious transfers PLUS her niece, Aifuwa, Cherry, Payne, Johnson and Shematsu, AFTER HER FINAL CONTRACT YEAR!! Some re-building and returning LSU WBB back to prominence eh?

Last year she lost Chloe Jackson who led Baylor to an NC, along with Louisiana players Jalani Brown and Moon Ursin.....none wanted to play for CLEO at LSU.

Mind you, I am listing the attrition through 4/9/21, this does not mean the losses are done. You read about the “successes”, but like the MSM, the real stories and alarming rates of attrition are buried or not reported by lsusports.net, Teflon-Cleo, WHY? I believed CLEO was protected by “AVELLA-ASLEEPA”, now I see how it continues. It is past time for change in LSU WBB!!

Sounds like LSU is letting her fulfill contract hence the returning players and the transfers
NCAA tourney or bust next year

In their defense they did have one of the toughest schedules this past seasson and were very close in some games that would have been the difference

How do you account for her incompetence over 10 years and how do other programs manage to excel, it not like we did not-once-upon-a-time, recruit/win/maintain a fan base!!!!

I don't know what turned off the fan base - some of that was happening while Van was still coach
also that was when gymnastics started drawing sellouts as well
Most of the time women's hoops were giving away tickets and having a lot of promotions
Augustus did a good job of bringing the local community to come watch

She made tourneys and Sweet 16 early in her tenure but fell off and were losing in first round and would have made tourney last year
I have no idea what it's like playing for her but the players that have left don't seem to trash her on the way out
I said it from beginning of the year when Young was coming off the bench, she better play her or she's going to be the next one to bolt , where she ends up I don't know - she's had some decent games, is it the scheme holding her back, we shall see where she ends up

Fargas needs to go. Most would agree with that, including me. She has been retained far too long, IMO.

However, I do take issue with the name calling ("Cleo"). That is useless to the substance of her inadequate performance. It can also be construed in ways one may not intend. Perhaps, it makes one feel better or gives one a chuckle. If anything, I feel it distracts from the issue of a needed replacement.

Good point but Cleopatra “covered her ASP” on her way out, the real Cleopatra was equally well-festooned!

Don’t cry for Argentina or Cleopatra!!!

I can't see that happening, AND she shouldn't be retained just for making the NCAA tournament. What if they make it and lose in the first round? Does that really show progress?

Coach Fargas has had long enough. I also wish LSU would go another direction now. But it appears at this time, Woodward intends to let her coach through the end of the contract.

Unless there is a considerable turnaround next season, that should be it for Nikki. It is time to see Woodward do something to show us he can be good at things other than paying coaches very high salaries.

Attrition was anticipated. That Young left hurts, but to get six signees in school, two transfers and the three graduate seniors along with the remaining roster, Fargas had to create room.

I never understood the hype around T Young even when she was in HS. I’ve always thought Mingo-Young Loranger/MS State now at Alabama was the better player between the 2. I wouldn’t be surprised if T Young lands at Baylor she fits Kim Mulkey style of play. Also Houston and Ole Miss could be landing spots for T Young. It’s a 6’5 post player a Trinity Valley CC we need to land!
