To NORTHWESTERN!

You realize that's NW of the Big 10, a BCS bowl eligible team and not NW St of La right?

winning by 11 is not eacking out a win against a BCS bowl eligible team.

Win or Lose

in the standings losing by 1 counts the same as losing by 50, but i think most of understand there difference.

So its, building, not RE-building... Right?!

in a sense, but you were making it sound like they were at rock bottom and having to rebuild from nothing when you say rebuild from the ground up, that's not the case. They have talent, now they will probably not do much better than 6-6 this year given the new coach, systems, young talent and upgraded schedule, but they are positioned, if Sumlin does a good job, to improve quickly.

I don't think they are in nearly as bad a shape as LSU was DiNardo came in and we won 10 his 2nd year, now that was a team in need of rebuilding

Case Keenum is to Sumlin as Brett Favre was to Hallman.

Things run in cycles..i remember A&M having 3-4 top 5 classes in a ROW in the early 90's. Nothing lasts forever, there is no reason with where A&M sits with its facilities, resources, $$, and yes conf affiliation that they won't / can't have a top 10 class every year.
EVERY good traditional program (yes we're top 20 all time) is ONE bad coaching hire away from being mediocre..for multiple years.
Name me ONE exception? You can't.

very true.
With that said, if he goes get Cooper from LSU as DC, then I will start believing in him. Otherwise, he better learn to RUN THE FOOTBALL and PLAY D or he won't last 4 years in CS.
He needs to learn from others who have never ascended to the TOP of the SEC West i.e. Flagship. Their best year under Petrino was year before last, AND I believe it will be this year because of running the rock and now their D is coming around with their new DC.
Arky will be tough in the West. aTm will finish 4th at the very best as I am not sure who they have on their sched from the east.

this thread is really getting away from LSU Recruiting. However there is an indirect effect, since his performance affects the SEC West. Sumlin would be wise to not go head to head with Texas and LSU on every recruit, and go after the guys TCU, TT and OSU is getting in Texas as a foundation and OOS to fill gaps.

I will say this, LSU just needs to stay one step ahead of TAMU and there will be no effect on us.

There's a long strentch from WWII when most A&M students were in the military

While all those patriotic aggies were off fighting in World War II, Army won the 1944 and 1945 national championship. Thanks, ags, for your service.

Glad to see teasips are so smug about the military.

West Point was were the top athletes were going, it was a better program them

And I thought you guys' didn't care about A&M anyway? You dominated them when they were a 2nd tier all male military school, congrats on beating a slightly better version of VMI. Fact is, once they became a coed school and dropped the military requirement, the record against UT is basically even. You have the overwhelming series advantage, congrats. Again what matters more, what happened in 1950 or 2011?

and when Mack Brown was hired, the first kids he was recruiting were 2 or 3 the last time Texas finished in the top 10.

I'm not sure if Sumlin is the right guy for A&M, I think they should have hired Fedora but if they did get the right coach, they could certianly be contender. I see their potential as either Ark or UGA
