Rivers looks good, although i dont know if I will ever be able to get used to that shot put style throwing motion, and i don't care as long as the ball gets there

yea, his arm motion is wierd and i'll bet we try to change that. thank god crowton doesn't have him as i think he's a project. there's so much more to being a qb though. if he has good vision and good senses in the pocket, he will find the open receiver.

Rivers is a project, but his basic instincts look solid. Krags will make a big difference.

I read that his brother had the same weird type of throwing motion coming out of highschool, which is why he didn't get offers from major programs.

In fact, Rivers still has an unorthodox motion playing for SD.

He has potential but will be a project. This may be a perfect situation for him. I do like the way he throws, and the motion doesn't bother me.

Rivers looked to have some good scrambling ability for a taller guy. He looks to be the future of lsu qb

Still not completely sold on Rivers but hoping the LSU coaches can help him reach his potential. I think it's just that low release; seems like it negates any height advantage he might have. He does have a quick release and moves pretty well for a kid as tall as he. I asked myself what I would think of him if he didn't have an NFL connection and found that he was pretty average if you compared him to top quarterbacks across the nation. If Coach Crowton was still here, I don't think he'd ever see the playing field. But, with Coach Krag on board, I'm optimistic that we'll actually develop quarterbacks once they arrive on campus.

This is my first good look at Rivers, and I agree with this. The arm motion may not be much of a problem (work OK for Phillip!) but his footwork needs a lot of work. If he can fix that, though, he could be a really good one as a RS junior and senior.

What impressed me most is Rivers keeps his eyes looking down field. Even though he scrambles, he's looking for the open receiver.

Very accurate thrower and has good presence in the pocket. Knows when you lay it up or drill it in. Has good touch on the ball. One time threw off his back foot (throwing when he is still backing up)but put the ball on the money. Has a strong arm. I think the biggest project will be to get him up to about 215.
