I may be in the minority opinion on this, but WR is the one position I wouldn't mind us only building organically. There is always a ton of talent in state and while we may lack some experience there for next season, we still have a lot of potential in the room already.
I hope you have the correct take, but something tells me that if the highly recruited player doesnt see a path to the field pretty quickly we will be needing portal guys until the portal rules are changed.

Yes, I agree, I am not sure this can be done right now.

studs we already have on the roster.

What "studs"?

You have several guys on the roster who have shown a bit of potential. But no one you can definitively say that guy is the next great WR. Usually the great WRs flash really early. Jefferson unexpectedly becomes LSU's No. 1 guy as a RS-Freshman. Chase had a ton of flashes in 2018. Nabers and Thomas were getting on the field quite a bit in 2021. Even Boutte, flashed big time as a Freshman (before he broke his ankle halfway through his second season).

Anderson was the much celebrated offensive transfer going into the season. On a team that had to throw it a ton and had an inconsistent #3 WR (Lacy), he didn't play a lot. I thought Hilton would be a stud coming out of HS. Three years later he's still in and out with injuries and has only made a few plays. Could both of those guys take a huge step now that they will be the starter with Nabers and (likely) Thomas gone? Possibly. But I don't think anyone can say they are so good that LSU shouldn't consider brining in a transfer WR with actual production at the college level.

Agree with all of this. I don't get the positive momentum everyone is feeling with Hilton.

I personally thought Anderson would tear it up this yr. While I don't think they used him right, he was very disappointing.

I really liked Douglas coming out of high school. I think lsu will probably look to bring in a more established receiver.

I don't think LSU is going to take a WR just to take one. But if a guy like Jordan Addison (All American at Pitt) enters the portal and would like to consider LSU you jump all over it in a second. Production generally trumps potential

Anderson’s ADOT was like 4.2 yards

They did just about everything right on offense but nothing they did for Anderson was well designed & the plays he did get were generally poorly blocked

I agree, but if Lacy doesn't come back, you will need some experience in that room. Other than Hilton who's really played significant snaps at that position. Nothing wrong with taking a WR1 and allowing the others to develop alongside him.
