Embody just posted that we've been speaking with two possible targets. Obviously as there has been many posts in here about Steen. The older is fellow Louisiana native Kolbe Fields. Apparently we're waiting to see what happens with Perkins before possibly making a move there. fields would have 3 years left of eligibility.

Steen's Primary recruiter at Vandy is now LSU WR coach.

Well that doesn’t emit much confidence on the HP front

He will be a hard pull unless his brother picks somewhere New Mexico state or something.

Has nothing to do with confidence on Perkins, BK just knows how to fill a recruiting board.

Anyone have an idea of how good either of these kids are? No clue on either, and curious the impact the 1 to play ot and 3 to play lb could have

From what I've read so far is if we get Steen he's a guaranteed starter with i'd assume. As far as fields he barely touched the field at south carolina so we would have to see. We are getting a Dc thats an LB coach so that is a positive.

O was bad about this and it ended up killing us when we missed on top targets. We ended up with several lower-rated guys who didn’t pan out or stick around.

True enough.
But as I mentioned a while back, his brother is a perfect example of a young man we bring in on an NIL that covers everything in a scholly! Doesn't count against the numbers and hopefully big brother likes the deal.
Little brother comes and competes at the highest level and they get to be teammates. He still could pull up stakes next year if his progress/the depth chart isn't to his liking. His year here under these coaches would be a positive to another interested program.
That's a helluva deal! My guess would be that has been bounced around with the guys and their folks.

This.
And might give some flexibility toward Shorts at Center.
I'm guessing.
Steen has seen all the SEC competition that would be coming his way. A big plus if we pull that dude.

If I am not mistaken, he was HS teammates with Dumervil and Martinez as well.

Orgeron did a very good job trying to get LSU in the nationalrecruiting game. Hugely competitive.

Did not help our brand.. or Orgeron or our team… that the mega Tigers on this board and local media… immediately attacked and lampooned Orgeron Ensminger and every other coaching hire.

The built and guided the best team in the history of college football. Not by accident

Actually sick to the waste of time over Orgeron this or Orgeron that.

Orgeron put LSU back on the national map after 4 or five years of Les Miles futility

Shite! That was him? Upperclassman w/them in HS and Cortez was his lead recruiter and he closed him on Vandy?
Gotta like our chances...

EDIT: And we take his little brother on a full NIL so they get to be teammates.

Give me a fricking break with the rosy revisionist history. Don’t waste my time shilling for the a-hole who put our program in a hole after riding the coattails of the guys who held it together for him for 3 years.

How many of these guys outside of LA burned O at the last second? Jarrett. Burton. Koht. Earle. I can go on if you like. How about Ricks? We had to beg him to stay last year and now he’s gone to a rival after playing half a season. Then Gilbert flaked out again and again, even after O let him come back to get eligible. O practically ran Ika off the team and then we got to watch him dominate Ole Miss in their bowl game. So how many of his National recruits actually worked out as positives for us?

Also, how many guys did O pass on or cut loose only for us to end up missing on the bigger guy? Hell, we had to take Burns back after doing that to him in 2020 to have decent safety depth beyond true freshmen for 2021.

O did a solid job of locking down the best players in LA from 2018-2020. I will give him that. He had some solid wins in TX, as well. But he also wasted the program’s time and money with some of his National reaches.

Weak take to start a thread on. We didn't pull enough.
