Sy did not make it in for his visit , not looking good on that front .

I dont know how this built up, but it's not the case. He was a high volume 3 point shooter, but shot in the mid 30% range or so in high school. He is not a sharpshooter.
It's built up because CWW has said he is lights out. No one would consider Tremont Waters an outstanding 3-point shooter, but if he was open he made them more times than not...but his % was trash because he'd launch them from anywhere. That's how Hyatt was in HS. He's not a terrific athlete and doesn't slash much. Other teams guarded him when he got to midcourt. I've seen some clips of his games, not just highlights. The scouting report is "DON'T LET HIM SHOOT", so many many of his shots were contested and he shot a lot. Don't let the percentages fool you, the kid can shoot.
I don't think he'll be JJ Redick as a RS Frosh, but I think he will shoot mid to upper 30%. I think he will be a spot up 3-point shooter who if left open can knock it down. Within 2-3 years I think he will be one of the best in the SEC

This is the JUCO shooter I want us to look at:
Tomas Woldetensae
Shot 48% from 3 on 7.5 3 pointers per game (210 of his 336 shots were from 3, or about 63% of his shots were from 3) . He's also 6'5 195.
Was also 88.8% from the line, which is generally a mark of a good shooter (note that I say generally as we have seen Mays be a great FT shooter, but not the best from 3). Granted, he only attempted just under 3 free throws per game; but to make 71-80 for a season is pretty impressive.

Whats your thoughts on Sy being a replacement to KBW. Can he fill in the spot?
Sounds like we're officially WAY behind on that front.

Also, if we don't land Sy, who will be next in line?
Nobody knows right now, but likely a transfer

Being great in practice with no one guarding (or guarding you tough) you doesnt mean much.
Daryl Edwards was like a 46% JUCO 3 point shooter but could rarely get his shot off in SEC play, because he couldn't create for himself. The scouting report on him was just be close to him around the perimeter and he wont shoot. At that point he was pretty useless.
In my opinion, we need a 3 point shooter who isnt afraid to fire one up 1 on 1 and can make them. I dont see Hyatt being that.

I think the point is, he’s not going to come in and change the offense, especially if he’s just a catch and shoot shooter. You need the guys like quinones who can create their own shot, and knock down the 3 in any situation. Quinones also locked up some big names on the circuit last year so he was making a big impact even when the shots weren’t falling.

I think you are way off on Hyatt. I think he will be our best shooter by a wide margin next year.

I mean if we dont really get any other shooter to come in, you may be right, not like we return a sharpshooter or something
Again though, Hyatt was a mid 30% range 3 point high school shooter. He was never a "sharpshooter". Edwards was a sharpshooter in JUCO shooting over 46% from 3, however, he cant create his own shot, so in D1 play teams just learned to be close to him to the perimeter and effectively shut him down. Taylor was over 42% from 3 in JUCO, but again, rarely can get a shot off at this level. Sharpshooters at this level can truly create and hit their own 3 point shot, with a hand potentially in their face. That's what separates the 40%+ 3 point catch and shoot guys who shoot at lower volume and the 40+% higher volume 3 point shooters.

And just like that, I hate life, Woldetensae just committed to UVA:

Good call thunderbird.
Would love to have a 3 pt specialist that could offer more than Graves, but I think it is reasonable to assume that current guys in their 2nd year at this level (e.g. Smart, Days, Taylor) will all see an uptick in 3 pt. % in year 2.
I think Mays can shoot better than he did this past year too. It's a bit strange to see a guard shoot so well from the FT line (90% range) and shoot as low as he did from 3 last year.
We shall see.

Wow! Great scout by you. Dude was obviously legit if the defending national champs are after him.

He had visited Illinois last month. I saw he went into the Top 10 on jucorecruiting's Top 100 list recently and looked him up, dude was legit.

All the CB's seem to be piling on last minute on Watford. LSU is up to 94%, including 3 more today.
