Pardon my recruiting ignorance but why would someone think it is beneficial to not work out?

too few spots with 4 commits at his position dont help his case

Apparently the staff did not appreciate his unwillingness to work out at camp. This isn't the first time we've shied away from guys because of this.
Thats strange considering we still have like 7 months of recruiting left.

Tim Williams is a better prospect, I'd be happy to get TW and shut it down at DE. Ofcourse, hard to get a read on TW but hopefully this is a sign that our staff feels good about where we stand there.

I agree that it's strange that a recruit would feel like he's done enough to think he's got a spot locked up 7 months from signing day when we're recruiting several other people at his position.

Pride, fear, and arrogance

I think it was more the staff wanting to see him in person competing. An attempt to see how he projects and earn his offer. The kid's like 200 pounds. I'd want to see him perform as well. He may be forced to play LB in the future and that can't be projected unless he performs there. Also just think they set a timetable and he wasn't ready. We'll take Williams and be happy.

Is it true that his lsu offer is no longer commitable?
Yeah. Staff has moved on. Too small for SEC D-line.

Has Williams set a time?

so why not ask this question where the story came from?

Prevot is 6'1 205 way to small to lay DE. Guy is possibly a linebacker but we stacked at LB for next year.

Because they probably have no real desire to come to that school.

Were people saying that Mingo was too small?
Prevot doesn't have the frame or strength of Mingo. He got smacked around in the 5 star camp. Mingo as a true freshman spent one day with the underclassmen/fresh. when fall camp opened and then straight to running with the upperclassmen/starters the very next day. If memory serves me right. Prevot needs to be bigger, have the body to add weight or become better at the linebacker position.

It's amazing to me how many people are saying hes too small to play DE for us now. Up until now, it seemed everybody was pumped at the prospect of him being a Tiger.

I'd still love to see him as a Tiger. He is a good football player. But the truth is that he has a LOT of work to do on his body if he wants to become an SEC DE.
On film, you see Mingo-esque ability out of Prevot. But he is up against high schoolers, while Mingo is doing it in college. In truth, and someone here has mentioned this before, his frame is much more like Tahj Jones than Mingo, and I believe Jones is a much better comparison to Prevot. And that is nothing to scoff at because Jones was good enough to go to LSU and will probably start for us at LB. As a defensive end though, Prevot is kind of a stretch.

Agree with you post completely, all the way down to the Tahj Jones body comparison.
I haven't seen anyone that wouldn' take Prevot. They're just explaing why the coaches aren't going to. Also, in recruiting, the dynamic changes over time. When we 1st became aware of Prevot and his film, no one thought he was 200 pounds. He was listed at 215-220. Also it would make sense for a guy that wants to play DE in college, to add some bulk as the past 8 months went by. He hasn't . It raises concerns. I'd take him but wouldn't make him the face of the class or risk losing others to get him. He's too much of a question mark. I do admit that I was hoping he would commit at camp. It's hard to let go of prospects that become a favorite of yours. Had the same problem with Massington, Adam Taylor and even Carlton Perkins and Ronald Lewis. Some guys just appeal to people and it's hard to let it go.
