Top Teams OL Recruiting over 3 years

I put together all of the OL recruits for the Top 5 teams in college football right now. I was actually surprised that we weren't way off from a talent stand point when you are looking at each schools top Olineman. I think we are more behind in the overall numbers/talent depth side of things. Especially when you consider what Alabama and Georgia has done at tackle the last couple of years.

Didn’t realize we were that successful AND so far behind in terms of sheer numbers.. think we really need to land 2-3 more lineman this cycle
Also i would have included Shanahan for LSU, considering he got one of last years 25 spots

I’m still baffled we haven’t been able to land one 5 start OT in that time period. That shite is about to change though with Leigh. I don’t get how Bama can get multiple 5 star OL seems like every class. It’s like they don’t mind riding the bench when they could go to LSU and start day one if they put their mind to it. I think though that O is doing what Bama does but now with the front 7 which is amazing and perfect for Pelini.

I didn't put any transfers on here because I wanted to look at this info from the perspective of recruiting. I don't know if "1 and done" guys affect our recruiting board.

Tristan Leigh and an interior at minimum.

I forgot about Parker moving to DL. I don't know how we do not take 4 OL. 2 OT, 1 G, 1 G/C

Where do we stand with Pennington? I haven’t heard much about his recruitment, other than we want him… Which makes me feel like it’s not going great, do we have any news?
Posted on 7/21/20 at 8:38 am to hall59tiger
look we all trust O and his eval, but some SEC schools are getting the guys we also wanted.
bama has a haul.
uga will most certainly have its 4th haul in 4 years.
I am fine with whom we get, but OLINE is the most important thing for me.

Of course you know how bama gets them, we need to increase our budget

Did you hear? The RB is impressed with Bama's recruiting. How will LSU ever compete?

A good way to compete with this is to keep recruiting monsters on the dline and have a 4-3 like from 2007-2012 when they couldn’t run it down our throats

And keep developing better than everyone else. Build it and they will come.

I think our Oline recruiting is just lagging behind the dominance Orgeron has had at all other positions. It was just this past year since we had a dominant Oline and put a few players in the league. I think most OL recruits want to know that they will be developed. I trust Orgeron to put together a good class this year and use last years momentum to stock up in the 22/23 classes. I have a feeling he is going to turn up the heat on OL and he has accomplished every other goal he has set his mind to.

Speaking of budget it is crazy how much higher Gerogia and Bama’s budget is than ours. I think Woody and O will put an end to that though here quickly.

But LSU still won the championship and had the top offensive line with no 5 stars.

It would be idiotic not to be impressed with Latham and the brockermeyers. Cmon man. If we had that haul, we’d be impressed too.
It’s just an observation on an sec team we play every year thst happens to be pretty swell.

HUGE problem here!
We get only 7, the guys we compete with get 12, 12, 11, 12.
We thus have no room for error. We compete only if we don't miss and don't have injuries.
7 in 3 years just ain't enuf to stock a program. Some will make it, some won't, some will be caught with whacky weed, etc etc.
Yes we get some quality OL but you have here defined the huge problem we face. Hopefully the Joe Moore Award will start something good here.

Those numbers are including current commits for the 2021 class. If we get 3-4 Ol, like expected, then we will be right there at 10-11 OL.

LSU hasn't had an OL taken in the first round since Alan Faneca in 1998. Over that same time period
Alabama: 7
Georgia: 5
Ohio State: 3
It's a bit of a circular conundrum. Are we not putting OL in the first round because we're not landing the elite OL or are we not landing elite OL because we're not putting them in the first round? Regardless, we're lagging far behind our most prominent conference peers and as direct recruiting competition, you can bet that 22 year dry spell is being negatively recruited against LSU.
*Should be noted La'el Collins was pegged as a likely first rounder until poorly timed legal issues left him undrafted.

I think this is the issue right here. Hopefully a few elite recruits could turn the boat around.
