re: Top analysts now predicting Malik Newman to LSU ... UPDATE: Last 6 CBs for LSU

If he was going to State, he would've committed to them a long time ago. He'd be recruiting for them like Ben does for us. And I don't blame him for being unhappy about the prediction thing. Ever since Jerry switched his CB to LSU, UK fans have blown up his twitter.

Good points.
UK fans have been acting "crazy" since the cb switch.
Going from being a lock to UK recently, they are now openly questioning Malik's judgement even tho Malik didn't reveal much of anything publicly.

If at the end of the day he comes also. More will still just sneak into the tourney due to lack of coaching
Wow. You look really stupid now. Congrats.

Let's just hope that our fans don't follow suit and act like douchebags if the winds start blowing the other direction.

UK is pursuing Newman hard, even though John Calipari has already signed Isaiah Briscoe – another five-star combo guard who prefers to play the point – for the class of 2015. Freshman Tyler Ulis will almost certainly be back on campus next season, and there’s always the possibility that Andrew Harrison returns for his junior year.
So should LSU fans root for the twins to return to college (giving that it gives LSU greater percentage to land Newman)? This will also make it that much harder to defeat Kentucky with them two back another year.
Or is that irrelevant since he will commit before we know what the twins do?

Might not be popular opinion but I think we should be rooting for the twins to return to UK. Not only does that increase our chances ten fold to land Newman...the fact is the twins are not as good as their "backups" in Booker and Ulis. Calipari is very loyal to the twins despite rather, well, mediocre play...especially in comparison to the guys who also play their spots. To me, the scenario where we land Newman and UK keeps the twins looks much better than UK playing better guys in those spots including getting Newman.

Malik gonna be on Cullota and the prince tomorrow morning.

I hope they ask him some tough questions, like what number he will wear at LSU or who will be the leading scorer for LSU next season.

My UK friend at work is a devout follower of their pay sites and recruiting year round. He is usually realistic and accurate with his basketball recruiting stuff.
He has been saying UK for months for Newman if either of the twins leave, and if not he's all Kansas.
Today he said that LSU is now a major player and has as good of a shot to land him as anybody.
Just passing this along.

You haven't been watching Andrew much the second half of the season have you? He's been extremely impressive and not at all mediocre. Aaron is still a really inconsistent shooter, however, but still is hardly "mediocre."
Sure, the Harrison twins coming back helps LSU with Newman, but JR Harrisons could be forces.

Ulis and Booker are much much better than both the twins, it really isn't that close.

I'll give you booker over Aaron (although his shooting has fallen off since his hot streak in the middle of the year) but Andrew and Ulis have both been phenomenal the last month or two. Certainly not "much much better."

So, hypothetical for yall...... Would you be okay getting newman if it meant TQ were to transfer?
Posted on 3/11/15 at 7:07 am to josh336
I'm confident TQ would not transfer. I have no inside information and I live in Michigan but I'm still confident.

Not in my book, but I don't think TQ would transfer. Honestly see them playing a ton at the same time.

Well, it is a hypothetical. But i am basing it off the story last offseason of him considering a transfer. I would hope he wouldnt either, and that he has matured. Just feel like he would be the most likely candidate.

Ulis not only has a better Ast:TO ratio, he shoots astronomically better than Andrew does...once again, it's not close.
Ulis - 41.4% FG/41.9% 3 pt
Andrew - 36.6% FG/36.5% 3 pt

One is 6'6" and the other is 5'10"..You can teach shooting but you can't teach height. When we played UK this year I was hoping they played Ullis more and sat Andrew. We had a better chance of winning the game.

You'd rather the better player play because he's shorter? Fact is Ulis is better than Andrew, it isn't close. I don't care if Andrew was a 6'9 PG, he's not very good at all. Ulis does EVERYTHING better offensively than Andrew.
