Is Blakeney still a fall back for UK as far as getting a committable offer? I think if they give him one he will go, that is why he has pushed back signing to the Spring hoping they miss on one of their Gs and a spot opens for him. Is Sampson our fallback or is he a take early?

Sampson, Lyle and Blakeney are all takes.
I'm not 100% sure on the Blakeney and UK story, but I heard from a source close to the UK program that they aren't very confident that the coaches are really going after him very hard.
He could have a committable offer to UK, or he could not. I'm not completely sure, but something over there has kept him out even though he seems to like everything about their program.

I don't think it was ever Blakeney's plan to sign in the early period. I think Lyle will though. I could see him committing soon.
Yeah, the posters on the SECRant are saying the same thing. They think the coaches want to either take one more guard or two more, one of which being a PG. I can't see them taking both Blakeney and Newman. That wouldn't work, especially if Booker stays.
I have no problem being the second choice team for a player like Antonio. Getting snubbed like that could actually make him jaded and want to work even harder to prove them wrong.

I feel like we'd need to sign one post player to go along with all these guards and forwards.

Yea I agree a post type player is probably in the cards. However, Im not thinking we need a "center" as much as a PF type player who can play down low. Kinda like Mickey when we go "small". I think we need to keep it quick and having a guy lug up and down the court isn't what we really need.

Simmons is 6'8 225lb he can play the post if need be.

We are barely going to have positions next year...

Depending on Mickey/Martin leaving or staying will pretty much determine his position IMO. If one stays, Simmons will take the other spot. If both stay, I think Mickey and Martin move down to 4 and 5 and have Simmons at 3/4. God, if we could somehow have both stay......

You never know. Both have a lot to work on before they become legit nba players. I hope they realize that and use lsu to full advantage and stay until they are considered easy first round picks

Ray Kasongo is still being recruited. Let's take all of Oregon's rejects.

Jarell is gone. He is ready (especially after the season). Only thing stopping him would be a massive injury (really hope that doesn't happen).

I can settle for sampson over blakeny but if we get him it's a plus. Mizzou is still a top contender for blakeny. Lyle Simmons sampson and hopefully blakeny would be a top ten class

One name to watch is Isaiah Briscoe who is announcing on Thursday on ESPNU at 6pmish... His latest leader has been UK... If they get Briscoe with the possibility of still adding Newman, Blakeney may be off their board.

I think St.John's retook the lead. He visited the Johnnies this weekend.

Well hopefully he still picks UK.

I was just looking at Kentucky's 247 mod's crystal ball predictions, and holy shite this dude is the most delusional motherfricker I've ever seen. He's predicted a total of 10 players to Kentucky. 10! Most of them are top 15 players too. If you want to laugh, go check out Chris Fisher's crystal ball.

SOS...any updates on Blakeney's visit?

Nothing on Blakeney, but Ben Love did a great article on JaQuan Lyle. Sounds like we might lead for him.

Blakeney has been quiet. He tweeted out how great UK was after his visit there which has me worried about his silence.

He tweeted that LSU was a great visit as well. I think Kentucky leads but that UK has other guards ahead of Blakeney on their list. So hopefully those kids pick UK and we get Tone. This is all just personal opinion. On the positive side for LSU Blakeney seems to really like Coach Jones and the Ben Simmons connection is real. It's just hard for me to pick LSU when we're going up against a school like Kentucky. It looks like Lyle, Blakeney, and Sampson will all wait to sign late so we'll be sweating this thing out all season.
