To everyone talking about taking the Sopsher bros. over optics

I see a lot of people on here saying that soon-to-be-4 star Ish Sopsher is an absolute necessity to sign, even if we burn 2 scholarships to do it, because we need to reclaim Amite.
That being said, when’s the last time we flipped a top-100 defensive lineman from Alabama near signing day? Give me Byron Young plus another 4 star like Pickering or Ward over the Sopsher brothers all day long. Finally flipping a highly ranked DL from Bama would be a way bigger recruiting win than signing a plummeting prospect with questionable work ethic who’s only going to LSU because we’ll take his unranked brother IMO, even moreso if we sign Devonta Lee and get a really talented Amite guy anyway.
Just curious to hear the board’s thoughts on that scenario, because I see a lot of people making the valid argument that we need to dominate Louisiana this cycle but ignoring the fact that it would pretty much guarantee that we wouldn’t be able to flip a really, really good player from Alabama and retain another scholarship to spend on a really talented guy like Ward who may get pushed out by Rodney.

100% would rather two of Young/Pickering/Moore over the sopsher brothers. If the sopshers wanna wait so long then let them, but take away Rodneys offer if they wanna keep playing the waiting game.

The board doesn’t have much confidence in Pickering, but, even if we can’t flip him or young, I still don’t think the 2 for 1 is a good idea.
Ish basically is holding LSU by the nutsack saying take me and my bro or I’m heading to bama.. so we offered his bro.. and he still didn’t commit!! Bc deep down inside he’s a gump, he won’t produce here, too lazy. Go join Dylan and the rest of those groupie bitches

Why not let the LSU coaching staff decide what should be done in LSU's best interest?
And NOT talk shite about recruits on a public message board to hinder their years of hard work.

Go back to the rant ree, it’s a message board for a reason, for us to voice opinions with each other.

If some had a little common sense, I wouldn't say a word.

Thanks Derek for bringing an intelligent thought to this thread!!!!!

So you think it’s worth taking ish and Rodney and not entertaining young/Pickering flip?

I’m waiting Derek, what’s your opinion on the ish topic? Or are you not allowed to say an opinion?

I would take any two from Young/Pickering/Moore all day over Sopsher brothers. I've never been totally sold on Sopsher because he's not 100 percent all the time. He just got dropped to a 4-star and I think he's a huge gamble. The outward appearance would look good for us to land him, but I'm not sure he's worth all the hassle.

Just curious to hear the board’s thoughts on that scenario,
First you need to understand, what the LSU coaching staff is doing ain't easy!!!! They are going to have #3 recruiting class in the nation when the dust settles Feb. 7th, all you can do is tip your hat to the staff and tell them great job!!!
Regarding the Sospher's what is more important that the Sospher's, Young, Moore etc..... is repairing the wall around the state. Just look at how many starters on Bama this year are from Louisiana, and for that matter for the past 6 years!!!! No repairing the wall, and that includes Amite, is more important than a couple of scholarships. We now have Saban on the east boundary and Fisher on the West boundary the absolute most critical job Orgeron has is to lock down the state and make it difficult for anyone that LSU wants to actually leave the state.
Everyone knew that Louisiana was loaded 2019, so it was critical for Orgeron to walk away being able to say we repaired the wall around the state, which he has. The Sospher's have leverage and they are using it, honestly you can't blame them. I don't think there are too many people that would do it differently if they were in their shoes. They are looking out for their family first which is what every family should do, it is up to LSU to decide if Ish and repairing the fence around Amite is worth 2 scholarships. Since LSU has offered both Sospher's then the staff obviously feels the risk is worth the reward. Since Orgeron has done a pretty damn good job since he was promoted to the HC both on the field and in recruiting second guessing him at this point is pretty stupid!

Ree. just stop.
Yeah, I don't know what is wrong with me. I should be happy about the one-thousand, four hundred and ninety-first thread on the subject. It just never gets old.

He’s instructed to sunshine pump what Ed Orgeron feels is the most likely recruiting scenario, which is us signing both Sopsher brothers. I almost never start threads on the recruiting board, ESPECIALLY ones that talk negatively about recruits, but it really doesn’t matter in this case because there isn’t a single other school out there aside from Oregon who actually wants to take the Sopsher deal, which should tell anyone with half a brain that most coaches think it’s a pretty shitty deal.
If our coaching staff was highly confident in Moore, Pickering, etc. he would have no reason to be in this thread acting like signing the Sopshers by default is some huge recruiting win that took years of hard work and he’d be praising me for how genius my post was. He’s just trying to do his job and protect the optics of his boss’s possible failures by acting like knuckling under and ending up with a bad deal because he gave in to an 18 year old’s ridiculous demands to fill the class is somehow a good thing.
FWIW, I think Ed Orgeron has done a phenomenal job this recruiting cycle, but let’s not act like having to settle for a 4* and his brother who doesn’t currently play football is somehow better than a combination of Pickering/Moore/Ward/Young/any other 4*.
My post has absolutely no bearing on the outcome of this situation and Ree knows that, he just wants to scare everyone into shutting up about something that could make his boss look bad

I kinda feel bad for that Rodney fellow. I hope he doesn't read everything from this board.
Posted on 1/17/19 at 7:12 pm to LSUgrad08112
Young/Pickering/Moore in any combination would absolutely be better but...taking ish and Rodney will hopefully lock up amite for the future. I get why they are doing it but yea I’d rather the other guys.

They’re doing an absolutely excellent job and I’ve been praising them all season long. But I’m an emotionally mature adult who can compartmentalize and discuss one negative aspect of a situation with other adults without confusing it for shitting on the entire situation

How so? We’re the only SEC school who wants to take them both and we have dozens of other 4 stars who are interested in playing here. The entire point of the deal was that Ishmael was an in-state top-10 5 star DT. Why take one 4 star and one 2 star over two 4 stars if possible? LSU holds 100% of the leverage in this situation
