Give me a Louisiana kid who has a chip on his shoulder every day of the week over an out of state kid with similar talent . Bo summed it up perfectly saying kids here don’t know anything but hard work and toughness.

It'll be top 5, not #1. To be #1 you'd need about 3 5 stars and a bunch of top rated four stars , or a lot of 5 stars and a good number of four stars.
The top classes in recent years have been just ridiculous.

We seem to be getting most of the guys O really wants, and no one knows how to build a roster like that guy.
Our recruiting rankings have stayed pretty consistent around the Top 5 but the talent gap between us and Bama has closed. We were straight up the most loaded team in the country last year and I don't see that changing much moving forward.

LSU can have a top 4/5 class, but now way do they pass up Ohio State who have 4 5 stars.

It would be close. Day is a recruiting machine up at Ohio State. Their class will be insane
OSU may have the biggest advantage over every other school. Like LSU, they are the only big time football school in a state that produces a lot of talent. But unlike LSU, there is not a ton of competition within their conference...or even region. For all intents and purposes, OSU is maybe the only school in the Big 10 (and midwest in general) that has an "SEC mindset". That is, college football is paramount to their identity as a university. Michigan competes hard. But, because it is one of the best public schools in America they still have a sense of elitism when it comes to college football. Notre Dame isn't what they were in the era before mass media. Outside of maybe Penn State, the rest of the Big 10 isn't "all in" like OSU.
They've been able to swallow up much of the midwest and make very important inroads into Texas and Florida. They can cherry pick the southern states while the LSU's, Alabama's, Georgia's, Clemson, Texas, etc are in all out wars against each other for the regions fertile talent pool

Valid points and all true. Ohio State is the flagship of the Midwest. They and Clemson have the best set up in college football. They both should be in the playoff for the next decade as their is literally no competition in the ACC and BIG. LSU has to battle with Bama, UGA and UF.

It's going to be your usual cast of characters at the top when the dust settles.
In no particular order:
OSU, UGA, Clemmy, LSU, & Bama.
OSU's class thus far is impressive.

Doesn't really matter Georgia has had several #1 classes and nothing to show for it but 1 SEC title. We averaged #7 ranked classes the past four years and won the Natty. I believe Clemson averaged #10-12 the year they won the Natty with Deshuan Watson.
It's all about meetings needs, and coaching them up Dabo and Coach O are the best examples.
