That’s not how it works. With Phil Knight Oregon has more money to spend. Thieneman is also a Big 10 guy plus Oregon has fewer holes to fill. LSU can’t get into a bidding war at one position and expect to fill all the other needs as well. Being aggressive and having a big budget doesn’t mean you get your pick at every position.

None of that is relevant to how much money they have available to spend on this one player. It wasn’t a commentary on why the have fewer holes. The point is that they need fewer players so they can concentrate more of their resources on this one guy.

Of course not all of it. You are familiar with figures of speech, right. The point is that if they spend an extra $1M on one guy, that’s $1M less to fill the other holes they have. LSU needs to build depth just as much as filling particular needs. They can’t be putting all their eggs into one basket.

my point is that they've used money to get talent and that is why they have "less holes" to fill.
