The depth of the 2016 Louisiana class was impressive

Just happened to be reviewing the last 10 years of Louisiana Recruits.
In 2016, 2 5* and 19 4* is really tremendous depth. I just did not remember how deep that class was. I guess it did not have the bell cow like Fournette.
Most years Louisiana has between 11 and 13 4/5* players.
Of course, 2014 with 4 5* led by Fournette was really something at the top end.

Irv Smith and Greedy were underrated. Devin White rated as a RB so he wasnt rated properly.
D. Campbell was overrated and Caleb Roddy was a bust.

‘17 wasnt a standout year for LA, but LSU did an awful job of only getting 3 of Top 10.
Missed on Devonta Smith, Chris Allen, Phidarian Mathis, Kaeyton Thompson, Travis Etienne, Brad Stewart.
Got Shelvin, Todd Harris, and Narcisse (who was obviously overrated).
Dylan Moses wasnt considered a LA recruit but whiffed there too.
Just bad, bad, bad.

In ‘15 the state had 2 stud linemen in Jerry Tillery and Cody Ford that LSU missed on. I think Tillery was determined to sign with ND, but it shows how important keeping those guys home.
Tillery and Ford would have been huge for LSU. LSU also missed on Adrian Ealy that year. Not sure what became of him at OU.
LSU only got a mediocre Adrian Magee in state.

Miles did a good job recruiting that class.

I've seen both as 1st round guys in different mocks. I was actually a big fan of Ford. He landed well. Tillery stuck to his DL dreams and it worked for him. He did things the right way and you never hear him mentioned on our "miss" lists.

Tillery was hell bent on going to ND so I don’t slam Miles too much on him.
My point is that kids like him don’t grow on trees in LA and you can’t let em get away if at all possible. They just flat missed Ford. Poor evaluation.

This year is very good too.
Emery, Thomas, Stingley and Sophser
And 11 4 stars
But 19 4 stars is incredible.

Yep. This class reminds me of ‘14 with star power at the top.
