Texas recruiting class according to rivals

Probably not #1 on lockdown yet, but they are a lock for top 5, maybe top 3.

If they land guys like Wilson, Lache, and Jeffcoat then they will have it locked up.

it would be insane if UT got a #1 class

just imagine if mack tried to get down and dirty for top prospects who weren't 100% texas 300 days before signing day

It is amazing but its how Brown recruits. He forces commits early to basically everyone all Texas. If you don't bleed UT blood, he starts to lay off. I guess he can afford to do that in such a talent rich state but its also bit him in the arse with some major recruits.

Texas has a position like USC, where they are by far the #1 team in a vastly populated state (in terms of talent)

USC has some competition, and UCLA may start to chip away. UT has OU in a similar position

however the advantage mack has is that kids literally grow up dreaming of playing for Texas. USC is more of a thing kids want to be a part of, as they became fascinated with the USC hype in middle/high school

i'm not complaining about mack's strategy...it has allowed LSU to get some studs out of Texas

I feel dirty saying it, but I have to agree with you on this one. We could have a solid team just sticking with players who bleed P&G but we aren't paying Les the big buck for a solid team. We've got to get some guys from OOS, and Mack's strategy somehow helps us.

Mack might change his tune if UTSA and North Texas ever establish some recruiting. Nah!

Here's also a thought:

By locking up his class early he does 2 things:

1) He makes kids want to commit early. If they don't commit early, someone else might take their spot and they won't get to play for Texas. This stops them from going on a lot of recruiting visits and possibly thinking about other schools. I don't know what his NSD defection rate is, but I would imagine that it's pretty low.

2) He creates a marketing tool for Texas by filling his class early. He makes Texas seem like a program that everyone wants to be a part of, causing all of the early commits. He also makes Texas seem like a school that knows exactly who they want and goes after them. This makes an offer from Texas seem more valuable than an offer from a school that has 200 scholarship offers out to every 4 and 5 star player who will look at them.

.....Just a thought.

Texas will probably have 30 or more 4 stars so others will get their share of 4 stars from texas.

this can backfire when going for the very top talent. you're not wrong, it's a double-edged sword

they lost shep b/c mack put pressure on shep to commit as a non-QB and OU gets a lot of the top talent in TX b/c kids get turned off to the early high-pressure tactics used by mack.

they have no problem recruiting 2 QBs in teh same class (RP and colt, for example)

And yet Mack Brown will continue to underachieve year in and year out with his collection of ridiculous talent. It's unacceptable that the University of Texas has only made one championship game in 10 years.
