Hey OBUDan, awesome post bro. I would think the people covering the recruiting would like to deliver their customers a certain degree of accuracy with their reporting, but maybe not.

I'd say that it is your expectations that are out of whack. Most reasonable people understand that the information is not 100% accurate.

Actually, Scout has been saying for weeks that things were not looking good with Ely.

I'm a little confused as to how you bash their reporting, yet you evidently have no frame of reference.

I'll agree that Tigerbait is pretty useless, but Shea and TSD were on top of the Ely announcement well before anyone.

I also feel really bad for someone who is so financially strapped they think 10 whole dollars is such a monstrous number. Following LSU and LSU recruiting is a "hobby" of mine, not many hobbies out there are as cheap as 10$ a month

$10 a month very well might be a lot for some people. It's not so much that it's a lot of money but rather that it's a waste of $120 a year for information that isn't even accurate most of the time and that you will find out in a few months anyway. I follow recruiting casually but I get more than enough info between here and the free services.

You are right. This was a terrible thread. I respect the guys that cover recruiting. I apologize. I imagine it is more frustrating for those guys trying to make sense of this stuff than it is for fans. I will refrain from making such irresponsible posts in the future. Sorry again.

you were just speaking your opinion rollie, nothing wrong with that.

I was literally in the house with a recruit a couple of year ago and so much stuff got out and we never knew where it came from.

sometimes these young men dont even know.

people can see them and ask them a question and take it and run with it.

i cant speak for rivals, but the reporters on scout made sure they checked everything before they reported anything in our case.

do things change from day to day? yes they do.

its not the information that gets out, its how we choose to take it

Wow. That is actually very good to know. And comforting. Kudos to Scout.

Thanks for sharing.

Understood. It's just that the recruiting sites catch a lot of flack. It is good to know that some (and potentially all) try to verify their information to the maximum extent possible. It is all that we can and should really expect.

100% accuracy will never be attainable and we should not expect that.

The recruitniks and sites probably had this as correct as possible. What cant be anticipated is a last minute offer from the #1 ranked program in the country, which is apparently what happened here.

Would make sense considering that He went silent and that the word came out we were low man on the totem pole.

which is fine. lsu wasn't fooled. they just went to the next guy in line and got a quality qb.

will be fun over the next few years to see who came out on the better end. see these two cats compete against one another. i hope they both do well.

the thing i like about our guy. i think he will have a chip on his shoulder wanting to prove something to a lot of people.

I think if Im a Blue chip QB coming out next year I look at LSU with strong consideration.

He could be a 3 year QB if they are good enough.

Rivers has to Develop so he could pass him up.
Lee may not be sticking around the whole time.
and That will be it as far as competition. I wouldnt be surprised if LSU is not on a lot of blue chip prospects wish list next fall.

I think Rivers is the real deal though. The more I study the more i am impressed. Good pick up Lesticles.

I do not think Ely wants to play. He went to a school that got a higher ranked QB last season and will sign a 5 star QB next season. Maybe he wants to become a coach.

The more I watch guys like Flacco, the more I get excited about Rivers. Guys that tall have a tendancy to be late bloomers, which is what LSU needs right now with ZLee already on campus. Rivers has the family support and knowledge needed to help the growth process as well as a good natural skill set
