Our TE numbers weren't much different than that. I see that changing this year though. But we need another guy that can in-line block. I'm sure he got plenty of work doing that.

We can't just load up on 6'5" 215lb TEs and expect to get the same kind of blocking we've seen from guys like Mitch Joseph and Chase Clement.

To update this thread, Anthony Jones received a "come to camp and earn an offer" offer this week from LSU. As someone else described, right now it's a "don't commit anywhere else while we evaluate you" offer, as Jones has gotten interest from some OOS schools looking at his teammates.

Will we take 3 TE's this year? We have Washington and most likely Mcneil.

McNeil (his academic issues were more of credits not transferring than making the grades IIRC) I think he gets te credits needed

How is he going to get here in a year if he is enrolled at a JC? He is a non-qualifier. The quickest a non-qualifier can get here thru a JC is 3 semesters or 4 quarters and summer school doesn't count. Unless he's already enrolled this semester/quarter, that's 2 seasons. Is he enrolled now?

Yes he is currently enrolled. He would complete his 3 semesters in May of '14 if he does what he's supposed to do in the classroom. If he does we'll likely take him which is why he's mentioned so much. Makes no sense to me for our staff to go to the trouble of placing him if they have no plan to take him if he's ready next summer. If he fails to be ready next summer then we likely never hear from him again in a serious way. Could work out wonderfully for us if Josh takes care of his business. Kid's a talent.

McNeil is definitely a take for 2014 class, but cant assume like all JUCO kids he'll get it done in the classroom. The worst part is we'll have no idea until well after NSD if he's in good shape or not.

I'm thinking less and less that we are going to take 3 TEs in the '14 class. But once we get some clarity on the situations of Thomas and McNeil, and also see if we bring in a walk-on TE in the fall, I will revisit my opinion on this.

Koda Martin is also being pursued, but it's unclear as to whether we want him at TE or OT. He's also a long shot to come here anyway.

We also offered a kid in that plays TE and LB, I think he's from one of the Carolinas, but not sure exactly.

I think we just need 2 with a quality walk on and I think we get that quality walk on in Clay Moffitt (who ends up our next FB IMO).

Washington is obviously in, now we're looking hard

Josh McNeil - best possibility
John Thomas - not as high on him as I think most believe
Anthony Jones - Would really have to show out to get an offer
Koda Martin - long shot IMO for more reason than 1

Whichever way we go, I think we slow play this at least through fall to see how McNeil progresses academically, how Thomas performs his 2nd season (non-existent last year) and how Jones performs as a starter at Karr.

I wonder if they'll get Moffitt's kid to walk on and let his dad get a hold of him to become a blocking TE.

Thanks. Got to graduate though. Doable if his issues are described here.

He enrolled at a juco in January. He has the potential to be eligible for 2014.

He is potentially eligible for 2014. There are a lot of variables in his situation.

Agreed, but he still has the potential to be eligible for this class. I'd rather him over Thomas

I'd love to see Moffit walk on, thatd be great. And hes definitely a possibility to play fullback, especially since he isnt that tall of a tight end. He could also be a quality player on special teams, and hes good on the other side of the ball as well at Catholic.

Kendall Ardoin is another in state option, seems to definitely be behind jones at this point...but he'll probably camp and definitely be a body that the staff keeps an eye on.

Again, I think we take on two on schollie, and theres a good chance one is a juco guy

To update this thread, it appears that neither McNeil or Thomas are going to be an option going forward.

Washington is currently committed and it looks like Anthony Jones may pull the trigger soon as well. Kendall Ardoin is still being evaluated but I don't think we'll be taking 3 TEs in this class anymore.
