. Are you saying that the Woodlawn coaches are incapable instilling discipline? That staff is full of former college players.
Stupid post.

We've recruited very well at DT the last two years. We've signed eight during that time. We really just need to develop that talent we already have.

I love how the dude mentions Godchaux being at 260lbs like he's some scrub at LSU. That dude has played very well for a true freshman this year and I think it's safe to say he's going to be a star before it's said and done. T.D. Moton doesn't seem like the style LSU likes to go after. He's pretty big at like 330? Valentine is an exception because he seems to fit a 4-3 scheme fine and is very quick for a big guy. LSU usually goes for smaller DL who are more athletic. Godchaux/Danielle Hunter is a great example. I think we know a thing or two about good DL considering how many we've put in the NFL the past 10 years...

Valentine is the missing piece in the middle IMO.
Thomas we knew wasn't anything special but it certainly hurts he hasnt been 100% all season. He was supposed to be the most advanced DT coming into the season.
LaCouture is a guy the coaches didnt want to count on this early (Godchaux for that matter too, but Godchaux has the talent to start in the SEC).
I think our DT rotation next year ends up being:
Thomas (if 100%), Godchaux
Valentine, Lacouture
It's unfortunate to not see 2nd year players in Bain, Herron and Gilmore get many reps at all in a situation where if they were good enough they would be. I hope just 1 of those 3 step up big time because I would hate to think we missed that badly on 3 very well thought of prospects.

On the flip side, Godchaux has been one hell of a pleasant surprise. Hoping the freshman getting more reps motivates the others mentioned above.

I mean Bain and Gilmore are 300 pounders, Herron is a little light for a DT at 275ish...but Lacouture was in their class and he's starting, not to mention Godchaux being a year younger and also starting.
I don't think physical build is their problem, it's technique/talent. When I saw Herron on the field this weekend he looked pretty sad.

Are you confusing Thomas with Mickey Johnson? Thomas has been a solid rotation guy. It was Johnson that was chosen over the West Monroe defensive tackle that most people were upset about not getting an offer. I don't know if I've ever noticed Johnson on the field late in blow out games.

No I meant Thomas, Thomas is nothing special. He's just another rotation type guy, not a typical dominant DT we are used to or even as good as Freak or Ego. Thomas 100% would have helped us a lot this year though. I think he can be a 35-40ish tackle in a season type of DT with maybe 4-6 stops behind the LOS.
