Maybe Goodman/Willis would rather play in front of all of their friends and family. It's a lot easier for that to happen at UCLA
For Goodman, yes. It's a 1 hour drive. Fro Willis, no. It's a 6 hour drive for his family. If Willis's family is going to see him play they are probably going to fly it either way.

Maybe they want to have an academic degree to fall back on, and in that regard UCLA outshines LSU.
There have been reports saying they are interested in playing for 3 years and then moving on to the NFL. I'm not sure if this was tweeted or if this was said in an interview, so I don't believe the academic competitiveness of UCLA vs LSU makes any difference here.

1) UCLA is hoping to compete for a PAC12 title and still have Oregon, Stanford, and probably Oregon State ahead of them and most years USC. They will go to UCLA and be part of a rebuilding, not a NC team. 2) L.A. doesn't care about CFB. When they do, it's all USC, never UCLA. UCLA will always be second fiddle in CFB. 3) No home stadium, no sell outs. 4) Mora has 1-2 more good years before he is gone and heading back to the SE to coach in the SEC or back to the NFL.
All three points here were pretty far off target.
1 - Those three teams you listed as ahead of UCLA? All play in the north. They only have to go through the south and beat them once. While it's a stretch, they were a slightly too long FG from beating Stanford for a BCS bid
2 - When Cade was here, the town was all UCLA and USC had some pretty pathetic attendances. LA wants to win. As long as the team wins, they are fine.
3 - No home stadium? Do we play 12 road games a year? No sell outs? Ok, we might not sellout every game, but as long as they win, they'll push north of 80K for most games. Lastly, go to the SEC? UCLA isn't an SEC powerhouse, true, but UCLA, when winning, isn't a stepping stone to another program. Plus he has no connections with the SE, so why would he go there? If Mora is back to the NFL, that probably means UCLA has done fairly well, so is that a problem? Do teams actively search for coaches who won't leave for the NFL. You remind me of the Tennessee fans who were saying Mora had contacted the AD and wanted to let them know he was interested...haha
I won't argue the merits of LSU, because they stand on their own and I don't disagree with any of it.

I have now lived long enough to see UCLA portrayed as an academic standout. Maybe next week I will see LSU referred to as a "finishing school".
