Star Ratings

I don't follow recruiting as much as many of you. Do you think many 3 stars would be 4 stars or higher, and 4 stars would be 5 stars, if they played in major media markets?

Honey badger was a 3 star so I learned a long time ago stars don’t matter sometimes

many of the start ratings come from various camps and 7 on 7.
so if a guy doesn't go to a lot of camps and doesn't play 7 on 7, it's possible there are some sleeper 3 stars out there.

Players will always be missed there are just too many to not miss some.
Players will always be over and under rated also.

There's also alot more to it than star ratings. There's future development. Some 5* guys may have peaked in HS. Look at Dylan Moses. Was a can't miss prospect, right? He peaked at Alabama in probably his second or 3rd year. Not having major injuries is another thing. Some injuries can permanently derail a career.

There are outliers but the recruiting services are right way more than they are wrong. The wrongs get the headlines.

Yea it’s hard to judge someone drive to be the best. These are the guys you want on your team no matter what his star is. Now if you have the option to get a 5* that has shown that type of maturity and drive then get him in the class over the 3 or 4* player. The problem with 5* players is that they can get lazy and complacent. I’d pick the high 4* with that drive over a 5* who’s shown he has lots of maturity issues. But then again, if I felt that I could help the young man become a man, then I’d go after that kid too.

I mean the NIL is great and all; but if a kid has long term goals of going to the league; they would be crazy not to look at past history and choose NFLSU.

There are multiple rating services. Stars can be based on region, AND sometimes they change, especially if the commit early, or sign with ALABAMA.

All you have to know is that the teams that consistently get top classes win the most. Everyone likes to pick some lower rated player that made it as some example that stars don’t matter, but those are the exceptions to the rule.
All this shite about wanting kids who bleed purple and gold, it’s nonsense. Burrow was an Ohio guy. Ohio State was his dream school. He transferred to LSU cause he saw an opportunity, not cause he bleeds purple and gold.
