Edmond and Rogers play different positions man. Also, our DTs were gassed by the end of the year. Hence why A&M ran it down our throats. You can never have too many defensive lineman.

That's another big signing if true. He's pretty damn good.

Dude looks the part... Probably similar to Ali Gaye from the highlights I've seen.

We played with three defensive tackles/nose guards this past year.

We're now going to have eight scholarship DT's/NG's on the roster and at least six of them are going to be rotation-capable.

That's three strings of guys in the rotation at the two interior positions.

Rogers would make nine guys and likely displace somebody in the rotation.

Honestly, that's overkill.

Taking Edmonds probably pushes Saivion Jones from Jack to defensive end and gives you three Jacks in the rotation - Edmonds, Swinson and Womack (who I still think ultimately starts). That doesn't count Carter, who might well be useful as a third down pass rush specialist.

And at end, you're sitting on Jones and Wiggins, which likely pushes Shand down to tackle where he's in a rotation with Smith and Wingo (one of whom is going to rotate at nose), not to mention Lee who probably won't get on the field much, and then at nose it's either Smith or Wingo, Jefferson and Guillory with Fitz West trying to fight his way into the rotation.

Edmond gives you 17 defensive linemen. Rogers would give you 18. We have never, ever carried that many.

If you take Rogers that'll be 18 defensive linemen on scholarship, which would be utterly unprecedented for us

It looks like it’s a strategy. You want a stout DL, commit numbers to it. Lots of fresh players, better chance you find some talent. No more getting pushed around at the end of season. Plus these portal guys probably won’t transfer out.

I do this with closers in fantasy baseball

Easy there big guy. His TFL weren’t posted on the page I read earlier. Only his two sacks and 39 tackles. I’ll admit I’d never heard of him before he entered the portal. If the staff likes him, that’s all I need to know.

Haha exactly we played three. That’s bullshite and why we got manhandled at the end of the year. You need more than just rotational pieces.

If Rogers wants in he’s an SEC caliber player. Outside of Guillory (if he stays), Smith and Wingo you’re telling me we’re going to rely on Langston( sucks) Hill(maybe) Jefferson (transfer), and Lee (rotational piece. Get the hell out of here haha. I don’t care if we have 20 fricking lineman. To knock off Bama and Georgia you better be loaded up the middle

If we are going to over recruit a position, it needs to be dline

I don’t think it’s overkill. UGA rotates that many guys and that’s the level of defense we want to achieve.

I just explained that we're already going to have twice as many before we even get to Rogers.

And that does NOT count Hill or Langston. It doesn't even count Fitz West.

And if you have 20 fricking linemen, you're going to have guys like Wiggins or West or even a Womack or Jaxon Howard looking to transfer because they can't get on the field. That's the danger you run into in this age of the portal.

We're almost assuredly done on the defensive line. Rogers is going to catch a bag at Auburn or Bama. He's pretty similar to Jefferson; in fact, he's arguably less productive than Jefferson is. And with the people we have, we're more than filling up a playing rotation with stout defensive linemen.

Not a very good sign if he’s similar to Ali Gaye by looking at highlights. Gaye was never really involved in any game. Hope he’s a good bit better than Gaye honestly lol.

I hope your right but i don't see a ton of agility or lateral quickness. Just a really good athlete with good measurables but thats just what little I've seen. Theres always potential for technical improvements through coaching. I think he's a a definite take and a solid addition but i dont see it as a Bj Olj. 7/8 sack a year dude...

He was #1 or #2 on their team in QB hurries too not just TFL so that suggests he's in the backfield a decent amount

Sorry for making fun of the name Gilber. I assumed he wasn't coming here.

After further consideration...that's actually a pretty cool name now. Welcome big man.
