Johns doesn't say anywhere in the story that he's committed to LSU. Just the lead-in paragraph does.

this guy is a headsy player, with deceptive speed and the intangibles to be a real leader in the clubhouse

as opposed to having a roster stacked like SC and players get frustrated and transfer, leaving a gap in the depth chart.

So we're recruiting him to be a scout team player? Why would we scholarship a kid who we know would never start? I think they reached on this one. I hope he turns into Steltz but geez, certainly not a dominant HS player.

If his measurables are correct though,

IF they are correct he could be pretty salty as time progresses, but to have role/project players is a good thing, and he is not costing anyone a spot in this class.

If anything this year taught us is we NEED leaders in the clubhouse that truly love LSU above and beyond individual accolades.

I think this is what made JJ so much more popular than his numbers dictate. He just wants it.

What in the f..... do you know. Johns looks like a tough and instinctive player that is about as fast as Myles and 40 pounds bigger. I like this kid and prefer to what I have seen of Myles.

Steltz was an animal in high school. Much more physical than Johns.

But what about next years class. How many people want Rocky's scholarship for this year?

Hopefully Jefferson starts to take this role and eventually Shepard.

LSU had 2 National Championships in the past 5 years. Could you name the Starting Safties for the 2003 & 2007 seasons?

Here's the difference between Loston and Johns. Johns may not be a great safety in the SEC, but he has the capacity to grow into a great linebacker in the SEC. The evil genius of Chavis works in mysterious ways....

Lets see..
He's
1) a "headsy player" (read: "white");
2) with "deceptive speed" ( read: "white");
with
3) the "intangibles to be a leader in the club house (read: "white").
