From the Bama board:
Bama might be able to add a couple of guys without them counting against annual signings and initial counters limits (only the 85 limit) via voluntary withdrawal replacement scholarships like they did with Tyson and Reichard. If so, it wouldn't surprise me if Grimes gets in that way and/or Bama saves 1 or 2 signing/IC spots to take a transfer later or use for 2021 cycle early enrollees. We'll see.

what is a
does that just mean giving a walk on a scholarship when ever one becomes available under the 85 man limit due to a transfer out?
From what I understand you don't get a scholly back towards the 25 class limit when a player transfers out.

Not sure of the rules, but those rulebreaking frickers are trying this...

seems they are always seeking ways to get around the 25 and 85 man limits. I remember talk of "legacy" scholarships and what not a couple years ago. Does any of this really work out for them?

The new transfer rules are making the 25 limit harder and harder to deal with.
Teams are going to get creative. I can think of a couple of ways:
1) A dual-sport athlete is strictly taken at the other sport and isn't on the football team for the first year, and then he joins the football team and doesn't count against the 25.
2) Kid walks on and pays his way for the first year and then gets scholarship and doesn't count against the 25.
I just predict that we will see a lot more of this going forward.

That's the point being creative, but LSU...needs to be a the forefront.
Especially this year....Lot of horses looking at LSU..

From what I understand it means that when someone who was a scholarship player on your 85 voluntarily transfers out, you can use a scholarship on someone else to replace them

Could this be the reason for sudden rash of LSU transfers?

Here is the problem with that thought. Yes you can slide by the 25 limit but what you are asking is for these kids to burn a year of eligibility. And with the recruits that the top programs are recruiting now a days, they don't want to be in college more than 3 years. That might happen, but I would think extremely rarely!
And you will have to get those coaches that are coaching those other sports to get on board, not as easy as you think.
